Happy Holidays from Goshen Junior High School!
Enjoy your holiday season!
Staff Spotlight: Zach Smith
Mr. Zach Smith is our new GJH Building Substitute Teacher. Here is a note from Mr. Smith:
I was a military brat, so I went to school all across the United States (Washington State to South Carolina and several in between) and graduated from Wurzburg American High School in Schweinfurt, Germany. I have four kids, all in Goshen schools, and I've been married to Mrs. Smith (7th grade Social Studies teacher) for 10 years. My hobbies include anything nerdy involving Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, comic books, and watching Ohio State football. I love that you can sense the community in the building at GJH and I've enjoyed getting to know the students and staff!
Phones and Punch Passes
1. Cell phones must be locked in lockers during the school day. Students may use phones before and after school. Phones seen during class, lunch, or passing periods will be turned in to the office, where they will be locked up until a parent can pick them up.
2. Starting in January, each student will receive a punch card to be used for passes out of class. Students will have 9 passes to use per quarter. We are working to reduce the amount of instrcutional time that students miss by being in the hall during classes.
Congratulations to Competition Theatre Students!
On Saturday, December 4, the competition theatre class traveled to Logansport, Indiana, to participate in the state middle level theatre competition. They represented GJH very well and earned awards for Best Technical, Best Ensemble, Best Lead Performer, and 2nd place overall!
German Class Update
Ms. Bruder’s Honors German class researched different German and American recipes and presented about them to the class. Students learned about measurements and the metric system as well as traditional German foods. Pictured are Adrianna Smith, who made a fantastic traditional Bienenstich (bee-sting cake), and Brody Green and John West, who presented about and brewed Oolong Tea.
