Wiggin Street Parent Update
May 5, 2023
BETTER TOGETHER
Dear Wiggin Street Families,
The school days are flying by and there is heightened excitement with all the end of year activities. 4th grade will be going to Ag Day on Tuesday, and we have the Talent Show Tuesday afternoon at 2:00. We would love to have you join us!
The 5th grade will be going to the high school theater on Wednesday for an Orchestra and Band Concert. This is a good opportunity for them to meet the directors and see if they would like to try an instrument in 6th grade. Check out the other music events listed below.
Lastly, our staff will be pampered this week and they deserve it for all the love they give to our students each day. If you didn't get a chance to sign up to help, the link is provided in this update. Today was School Lunch Hero Day, and we want to give a shout out to Mrs. Mary Ann Walker. She is so caring and always puts kids first!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Best wishes,
Christy Grandstaff

Congratulations 2023 DD Awareness Month Coloring & Essay Contest Winners
March was Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. There were one thousand one hundred and thirty-two students who participated in our annual coloring (K-2nd grades) and essay (3rd-5th grades) contest with one hundred and eleven classrooms participating county-wide, representing twelve different elementary schools in Knox County. We are proud to announce that Wiggin Street students, Lydia Quinn, 1st grade, and Brock Sabo, 3rd grade, were selected as winners. We are super proud of them!

5th Grade Recruitment Concert @ MVHS
Wednesday, May 10th @ 12:45-2:15 pm
Trevor Garrabrant, the middle school and high school choir director, will do a combined lesson with our 5th graders on May 16th during school. The goal is to have the students preview a choral lesson and get to know Mr. Garrabrant, so this will help kids make a decision about participating in performance ensembles at the middle school next year.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
May 31st, last day for students, will be a two-hour early release as in past school years.
