Multilingual/ENL News 2024-2025
Fall 2024
Welcoming our Newcomers!
New ELL Parent Orientation 👋
On September 27, 2024, we hosted our Parent Orientation for new multilingual families with children enrolled in our English as a New Language (ENL) program.
Be sure to check out our newsletter, where you'll find valuable resources to support your child's English language development at home, as well as tools to maintain their home language. We’ve also included information on translation and interpretation services, along with resources for parents to continue their own learning journey—helping to foster a bilingual environment for the entire family!
What is ENL?
Welcome to ENL at P94M! ENL, or English as a New Language, is a specialized program where our certified teachers are dedicated to helping students improve both their social and academic English language skills.
At P94M, we offer ENL support through two models: integrated and stand-alone. Based on each student's proficiency level, we provide focused English language instruction in small group settings outside of regular classes or work alongside classroom teachers to co-teach and support students in subjects like ELA, Social Studies, Science, and Math.
Each spring, our ENL teachers administer the New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSESLAT) to assess our English learners' progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This key assessment ensures that every student is advancing and on the path to academic success.
Meet the Teachers!

Hello Everyone! I am one of the ENL teachers working with English Language Learners (ELLs) this year. I've been working with both ELLs and special education students for about 11 years. I am excited to be able to continue working with ELL students this year and guide them along their English language acquisition journey. I am looking forward to a productive school year together.

Hello Everyone! I am an ENL teacher and I have been working with English language learners for the past 4 years. I have had the privilege to work with students in grades K-12, and I am eager to get the opportunity again to create fun and engaging lessons, to assist students with English language acquisition. I am looking forward to another exciting learning experience together!
