EHS Principal's Update:Week 5
Monday, September 9, 2024
Good Evening EHS Lion Family,
Dear Lions,
September is Suicide Prevention Month and the Antelope Valley High School District is on a mission to reduce the stigma attached to talking about suicide. This month, we ask everyone to“Take 2” to help prevent suicide – take two minutes to raise awareness about suicide prevention, take two minutes to reach out for help, take two minutes to support a friend, and take two minutes to educate yourself. Stay tuned all month for more prevention information and activities, but if you need help now, reach out to a parent, teacher, counselor, psychologist, or trusted adult. We are here to help. If you do not feel comfortable speaking to a trusted adult on your school campus, you can also reach out to these agencies.
Over the next month, we will share information, videos, and resources related to suicide awareness and prevention through our School Counseling Google Classrooms and various school activities. We encourage you to view these resources with your child, continue the conversation at home, and help break the stigma of silence. Please visit the websites below for more resources on having these challenging conversations and better-identifying warning signs. Suicide is preventable, and we are all key to prevention.

Senior's! Get ready for Senior Sunrise on September 13th 5:00 AM - 6:00 AM. Come for pictures, socializing and celebrating the start of senior year.
Parents, it is also time for the Fall Climate Survey! Please take the time to fill out the survey, post it in your Google Classroom or Canvas pages, and set aside a few minutes of class time for Students to take the Survey. It is imperative that we get as much feedback as possible to ensure our LCAP and our Local Indicators requirements, and that decisions are being made based on the majority of voices.
