Sagebrush Elementary
Family Update 1/10/2025
Message from the Principal
Dear Sagebrush Families,
Happy New Year!
Although we enjoy living in a wonderful climate with many days of sunshine, the weather can quickly become unpredictable. We are susceptible to severe weather throughout the year, but at this time of the year, we most commonly have to respond to extreme temperatures and snow.
On days where the temperature or wind chill is below 20 degrees, we will have recess indoors. Usually this entails watching a movie, playing board games, or drawing in the library or classrooms. We also use these procedures in the event of heavy snow or unsafe conditions on the playground due to ice.
Our ultimate goal is always for students to be able to go outside. To help us achieve this goal, please make sure that during these cold and snowy months that children come to school dressed for the weather, knowing that it can often change throughout the day. Students should have gloves, hat, a heavy coat, and preferably snow boots. This will ensure that if we are able to have outdoor recess, they will be prepared. If your child is missing an item that they previously brought to school, all items left on the playground after recess are collected and taken to our Lost and Found which is located in our Family and Community Liaison's room in the preschool hallway.
Thank you for your support of Sagebrush. It is wonderful to have such a caring, supportive parent community helping our students reach the excellence that we strive for daily.
Warm regards,
Chris Powell
Principal

Don't Forget Your Vaccines!
The holidays are here! Between cold weather and holiday gatherings, illnesses are more likely to spread. Please remember to stay up-to-date with your flu shot and COVID booster shot this holiday season. Learn more information about CCSD vaccine clinics.
Please apply for Free and Reduced Lunch
Even though all students in Colorado receive free lunch, we are asking families to fill out the free and reduced lunch application because it helps us maintain our Title I status. Title I is a Federal program that provides funding based on the number of students eligible for free and reduced-price lunch, and these funds support additional educational resources, programs, and services for students who need them most. By completing the form, even if you don't think you qualify, you ensure that our school continues to receive critical funding to support all students. Your participation makes a big difference in maintaining these important resources!
The application can be found at https://www.myschoolapps.com/ .
