A Note From Superintendent Susan Johnson
Dear Pirate Families,
I hope this message finds you well and as excited as we are for the month ahead! I want to take a moment to thank each of you for a wonderful start to the school year. Your support has been incredible, and we are truly grateful to be a part of this amazing community.
We have some fantastic events coming up! This Saturday, September 21st, marks the 75th Annual Band Day—a special tradition for our district! It’s always wonderful to watch our talented students perform, and we deeply appreciate the hard work and dedication they put into every performance. Be sure to join us in celebrating this milestone!
Then, get ready for Big Truck Night on Monday, September 30th—an event that's always a hit with our students and families. A special thank you to our Parents as Teachers team for organizing such a fun evening and to our community partners for joining us in making it a great event for all!
These events are not only great ways to celebrate together, but they also highlight the importance of being present and involved. Attendance matters—both in the classroom and at school events. Every moment counts in helping our students learn, grow, and succeed.
Thank you again for your continued support. We are looking forward to a month filled with excitement and Pirate spirit!
With Pirate Pride,
Susan Johnson
Superintendent, Hannibal Public Schools

The Hannibal School District partners with ESS to manage our substitute staffing program. ESS is now hiring, training and placing substitutes teachers, and substitute paraprofessionals at HPS. These positions (and others) are vital to allow the Hannibal School District to provide a high quality in-person learning experience for their students.
