Get ready for the Colt Stampede and Fun Run, our biggest school fundraiser of the year! Kicking off the week of October 2 and culminating in the main event on October 11th. Instructions will go home on October 2nd!

Throughout the week, students will collect monetary pledges from friends and family, all while getting ready for the big day! On October 11, students will run a fun-filled circuit that includes an inflatable obstacle course and engaging training stations. It’s a week of fitness, teamwork, and school spirit—let’s make it a stampede to remember!

What is the Colt Stampede Fun Run?

• A fun and exciting fundraiser where students will run through obstacle courses and complete tasks at various stations.

• Students will have the chance to participate as many times as possible, challenging themselves to complete more and more!

Why are we doing this?

• We are raising money to directly support enrichment activities and the purchase of special supplies to benefit all CMS students.

• Your donations will help fund:

  • Grade-level field trips and transportation

  • Parent engagement nights

  • Special classroom supplies like graphing calculators

  • And much more!

  
  

How Does It Work?

• Donation Pages: There will be a donation page to share with friends and family to donate in a student's name. Since we are putting this event on and not paying a company, we keep 97% of what is raised!
  

• Pledges: Supporters can pledge donations based on the completion of the obstacle course and stations or make a flat donation.

• Encourage Participation: Students will win tickets to enter drawings for prizes and experiences based on donations.

• All students will get to participate in Colt Stampede, no matter the donation.

• The goal is to raise money for CMS, but most important is that our students have fun!

When is it happening?

• Kickoff Date: October 2, 2024: The donation portal opens on this day. There will be fun whole-campus prizes with each donation milestone reached.

• Stampede: October 11, 2024: Students will participate in the Colt Stampede Fun Run.

PROCRASTINATORS, IT'S YOUR TIME TO SHINE! 🫥

This year, we’ve teamed up with local screen printer Lantern Ink to bring you some awesome spirit wear! You can order and pay directly through their website, which was created just for us, and they’ll deliver your items to Calhoun Middle School at no extra cost. PTA will then distribute the merch to your child. If you prefer home delivery, that’s available for an additional shipping fee. There will be a set window for ordering, but don’t worry if you miss it—the store will reopen later for more order, but not all items will be available.

We can’t wait to see everyone rocking the new drip!

Turns out that most of you think Friday, the 13th is FUN and MYSTERIOUS! Luckily, no one voted for NOT LEAVING THE HOUSE.

Teachers and staff loved this event and are looking forward to the next one. If you’d like to join the fun, check out the Sign-Up Genius attached to volunteer as a barista on campus. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually in the United States from September 15 to October 15. It honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latin Americans, whose ancestors come from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central, and South America. The celebration starts mid-September to coincide with the independence days of several Latin American countries, including Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile. It is a time to recognize the vibrant cultural heritage and significant impact of the Hispanic community in shaping the nation's history and culture.

Our little sister is hosting an evening with hands-on Reflections activities led by community artists!
Brainstorm ideas for your project, learn how to submit it, and enjoy refreshments.

Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday that honors and celebrates the cultures, histories, and contributions of Native American and Indigenous peoples. It serves as a recognition of their resilience, rich traditions, and the injustices they have faced throughout history, particularly due to colonization. Observed on the second Monday in October, it was established as an alternative to Columbus Day, seeking to shift focus from celebrating Christopher Columbus to acknowledging the significance of Indigenous communities in shaping the history and identity of the Americas.

We invite you to join Calhoun MS PTA ( Dads too!) and become an integral part of our school community! Your membership helps us support our students, teachers, and school programs. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference and helps create a stronger, more vibrant community. Whether you're interested in volunteering, sharing ideas, or supporting events, there's a place for everyone. We look forward to having you on board!

We have several exciting events planned this school year that will need the help of volunteers from our school community. Our goal is to offer our teachers a monthly snack or treat, along with our regular Coffee Walks. Additionally, we’ll be hosting several dances and running concession in the evenings for CMS Ladies Volleyball and CMS Boys Basketball in the fall. If you’re able to volunteer, we’d love to have your support!
