From the Principal
Happy November!
Tonight is the skating party at Skate City. It is the perfect evening to go hang out, skate, and eat pizza with friends!
We are gearing up for our Veteran's Day program at Riverview. The fourth grade is sounding wonderful. It is going to be a fantastic program, as our staff and students have put in many hours of practice. We are excited for everyone to experience this important program celebrating our Veterans on Monday at 9:30 am and 6:30 pm.
Have a fun and safe weekend!
Sincerely,
Lea Ann Combs
Riverview Interim Principal

Student Art Awards
At Monday night’s Board of Education meeting students were recognized for the 2024 Student Art Awards. One of our Riverview students, James, was given the award! Attached are a couple of pictures from the meeting and recognition. These are also posted on the district website and social media channels > 2024 Student Art Recognition
Congrats for this recognition! It is quite the accomplishment. We hope all have the opportunity to see the student artwork on display at the district offices sometime this year.
Save the Date: Online Auction Hosted by the PTA on Dec. 1st
Save the date! The PTA will be hosting an online auction the week of December 1st (corrected date). In lieu of the live auction previously held at the Parents Night Out event, this online auction will provide families an opportunity to bid on fun and exciting student experiences. We look forward to making these auction items accessible for bidding for all RE families during that week. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks to come, including a sneak preview of the auction items!
Spelling Bee- December 13th
The Spelling Bee sign-up will be coming out November 22nd and will close on December 6th. The Spelling Bee is school-wide and is for grades 3-5.

November Character Trait
November Spotlight on Character: Gratitude
Gratitude is about focusing on the good and being thankful for what we have. When we make a habit of gratitude, we have a more positive attitude. This can have a big effect on our everyday lives. Being grateful can also block bad feelings and boost our mood. Our emotions can help us recognize Gratitude. One emotion that we might feel is happiness. When you feel happy, take a moment to look around for someone or something that you can feel grateful for. Remember that no matter what challenges we face, there are still so many good things in the world to take note of. As important as it is to feel gratitude, it is also important to show others that you are grateful. Showing your gratitude to others make them feel appreciated. We are so grateful for our Riverview community. Our families are the best and we thank you for allowing us the opportunity to teach your children and for your continued support of all we do!
Our December character trait focus is Empathy.
Hearing and Vision Testing
We have started hearing & vision screenings for students for this school year. We are hoping to have them completed by the end of November. Below is our district website for specific information on which students will be screened.
If your student needs any follow-up from these screenings, we will send a letter home with them. Please remember these are very basic screenings & don't replace seeing a qualified professional for vision or hearing. If your student passes the screenings the information will be entered into skyward.
You may view your student's results by signing into Skyward. Click on Family Access, then Display Options, next click on Tests, then click on either hearing or vision to see the results.
Thank you so much!

Signing In/Out Students- Bring Your ID's!
Please see new district guidelines for signing students in/out at Riverview. Remember to bring your ID's! These will be REQUIRED to show on camera before entering the building!
- Check-Out: Parents will be required to check out students in person by scanning their ID. The system will display the students they are authorized to check out. If someone other than a parent is picking up the student, their name can be entered, but staff must verify the authorization. ID scanning is mandatory, with exceptions made only in rare circumstances.
- Check-In: Parents will also need to check in their student upon arrival. After entering the information, the system will print a return-to-class pass for the student to give to their teacher, eliminating handwritten passes
