Your words cut through my heart like a knife,
Your words have made my own mind turn against itself,
I have spilled many tears onto my pillow,
Because of you.
Your words are on repeat in my head
Making my heart and soul believe your words.
A simple push in the hallway
Feels like an avalanche came crashing down on me.
Many scoff when I tell
Many laugh at my "hilarious tale"
And few others seem genuinely seems concerned
Those people want to know who it is
but I'm afraid if I say anything
You will only have more to say.
I try to dress my best
Suck my stomach in
Wear suffocatingly tight jeans to slim my thighs
I wear makeup to cover my "disgusting" face.
But I'm sick of it
I now realize that maybe you pick on me
To make you feel validated
Maybe you pick on me to cover your own insecurities
Maybe because you need some attention,
If that's the case, I forgive you
But those out there that do it for their own pleasure,
their sick way of being funny
Then please stop!
It's not funny nor amusing!
And it needs to end!
I'm hoping this inspires someone to quit what they’re doing
And this helps someone stick up for someone going through this
And anyone going through this as well...
please let others help and stick up for yourself
Don't let their words dictate who you are!
Don't be afraid to be yourself!

My Hero
Who is my hero? The definition of a hero for me means someone that I look up to. When you ask me who my hero is right now, I would say a fictional character from Dragon Ball Z called Goku.
The reason Goku is my hero is because he is a grown man with two kids and Super Saiyan powers. He has a beautiful personality with a childlike sense of wonder. He is a great father and teaches his children to use their powers.
Another great reason Goku is my hero is because he is one of the last Saiyan which is almost an extinct alien race. He can power up by using his anger. He can also transform into a Super Saiyan which makes him incredibly powerful. His attitude is truly inspiring. He has died so many times and come back, so it is normal for him.
My final reason he is my hero is because saved almost everyone from Frieza and many other monsters.
What I am really trying to say is that if Goku were real, I would go total fangirl on him and want to be friends with him. He is truthful, hilarious, sweet and strong. For all of these reasons and probably many more, I would say that Goku is my hero.

My Memoir
I have never had a way to express my feelings. I was always confused, so I kept it bottled up. That was until my grandmother gave me a beautiful diary. I wrote in it every day of my life. That was until I lost it. I came home one day and it was gone. I really needed it that day. Like any other day. I searched and practically flipped the house upside down. Everyday I came home and got the same results. Lost. My mother tried to get me a new one, but I just couldn’t take it. I couldn’t take anything now that my grandma was gone. All I could do was wish upon every star and pray. It didn’t work. After eight months had past. I moved on. Or at least I tried. Some might think it’s silly, but I felt like that diary was the puppet master. While I was the poor puppet. Then one day on a dark and stormy night. I had the sudden urge to look at the hidden door behind my clothes in my closet. Not knowing what was happening, I took a step. Until my hand felt a cold icy touch. I grabbed it and pulled it back into the light. It was my diary. Everyday after that was great. Even though a year from now this diary will mean nothing. It meant something now and that was what I was going to hold on too.

I was slumped on the front seat of my mother’s car. I was dressed all fancy looking because I was about to participate in BISD’s Ensemble contest.
I practiced my part a ton, and I felt like I was ready. While my mother was proudly driving me to the building, I was super nervous. My main goal was to not mess the song up, I wasn’t sure if I would or not. We arrived at the school where we were to perform. I’m pretty sure my nails were gone. I kept thinking, “I’m performing in front of a judge and I’m going to mess this up!” I grabbed my trombone, and slowly walked inside the building.
When I went inside, I saw a bunch of kids with shiny instruments. I saw some of my friends and practice in the cafeteria with them. I walked with my mother to a small room where the judge was. My and my trombone friends played our ensemble quite fast. I realized I had barely made a mistake! I was really proud of myself. Plus, the judge was really amazed by our performance.
After everything was done, my mother took me out to get waffles. I happily munched on the waffles and bacon, and I felt like I totally deserve this food. We went home, and I no longer felt like my stomach was about to explode! My family members were very happy for me. That was an excellent couple of hours!

Roswell
One of the most well known alien sightings occurred in Roswell,New Mexico in mid 1947.This alien sighting has earned the title,The Roswell Incident.
During Summer in 1947,a rancher found the remains of 'unidentified debris',"A mess of metallic sticks held together by tape, chunks of plastic and foil reflectors and scraps of a heavy,glossy,paper-like material."After reporting what he saw to Roswell's sheriff.Roswell's sheriff called nearby officials and officials came and took away all of the unidentified debris. After the crash of the unknown 'flying disk',"the recovery debris and bodies and the ensuing cover up by the military-was of such magnitude and so shrouded in mystery that,70 years later, there are still more questions than answers."
There may be the possibility that the government doesn't want to let out the truth so they tell lies to the public and the public believe whatever idea,"Although officials from the local Air Force base asserted that it was a crashed weather balloon, many people believed it was the remains of an extraterrestrial flying disk."Officials state that all the remains the rancher found in his sheep pasture was the parts used to make a weather balloon. After another press release,Roger Ramey claimed it was a weather balloon. The officials from the local Air Force clearly state that,"The alleged "flying saucer,"he said, was only a crashed weather balloon.A few years later,"Today, many people continue to believe that the government and the military are covering up the truth about alien landings at and around Roswell."
After the incident the press still look for answers for the loads of questions they hold.Citizens visit Roswell to see on how Roswell is doing now, "hundreds of thousands of curiosity seekers visit Roswell and the crash site every year, hoping to find out the truth for themselves."

Crack! Went the wooden board as my foot came right through it. I was about eight when I had my first graduation in martial arts. I was excited, nervous, and most of all glad I was getting my next belt.
I was, for some reason, nervous to get my next belt. I guess I thought that if I didn’t break the board in one try then everyone would laugh at me. Thankfully I did break it one try even though I didn’t think I could.
As they called me up to break the wooden board, I was super excited. My adrenaline was pumping and I ran up as fast as I could. When I heard the crack of the wood I was so excited if felt like my smile went from ear to ear.
After I broke the board, the instructors handed me my second belt and I was both glad and relieved it was over. I remember running back to my seat feeling so glad I was no longer in front of about one-hundred people. It felt like I sat there for 40 years considering there were so many people.
That's my goal, and I’m very glad I accomplished it. To this day I don’t know why I was so glad, nervous, or excited that much after all. After all, it is just a belt.

“The Dragon Hunter”
By Allie Patricio
Everybody had said it was impossible or a girl to save a prince, or save anybody in general. Well, here I am, standing in a Dragon’s Lair.
It was a very large and cold and dark cave, which held a sixteen year old prince, a fifteen year old girl (me), and the red dragon who goes by the name of Darkslasher. He was making everything in the cave look evil; a dark glow he cast among the cage Prince James was in, and my silver armor, and wooden bow.
The dragon growled, “What are you, meek little weasel doing here in the cave of the most dangerous villain of all time? He lifted his tail into the air and slammed it against the ground, causing the cave to shake.
“I…. I-I’ve come to save the prince of, uh, Malonia!” I said, trying not to stutter. I grabbed my bow and aimed it at Darkslasher. I let go of the string and the silver arrow zoomed towards the dragon’s snout. It pierced his nose.
That made Darkslasher angry, and he flew into the air and his wings slammed me against the wall. My bow dropped onto the floor.
As I fell on the ground I grabbed my sword and slashed it across Darkslasher’s neck. He roared and dropped to the floor. I jumped onto him and grabbed the bars on Prince James’ cage.
“Hold on!” I yelled. I grabbed my sword and threw the blade against the bars. I grabbed James and dragged him out of the cave and onto my horse.
We rode a way from Darkslasher and once we were far away from him, I thought to myself. I just saved the prince! Haha! I did it! Now Malonia will think of me as a hero!
And we rode off back to the Kingdom of Malonia.

Have you ever wished
That you could bring back the dead?
If only for one night,
When the full moon lights the sky,
We dance beneath the stars,
Forget about the scars
That the ugly past has left upon us.
When the only thing you know
Is the sorrows of loss
When you lost your friend,
your love,
your life....
You can sing,
You can dance with the ones you lost,
And no longer feel the grief
Of your love, your life.
If only for one night.

Friends
Everyone needs a friend. It doesn’t matter if they are as weird as a blobfish. Look, God says in the Bible that he made us to interact with each other.
Let’s say you’re having a really bad day at school and you pull out your phone to text your mom and dad but your phone is dead. Who’s going to be there for you? Your friend will! We need friends so that we can depend on people. Friends are more than just friends, they are family.
Having friends is like having your own personal family at school. When you’re feeling down, your friends will be there to cheer you up. They’ll make you laugh when you need a good laugh. It is good to have friends so that you won’t go through life all alone.
We can’t act like we hate each other and start becoming friends. We need to interact and start forming a bond. Sometimes we just need a hung. Who’s better to get a hug from than your bestie? WE can’t buy friends, but we can always be friends. So when you see someone down, give them a hug and see what happens.
God says we need to interact with each other and become good friends. We need to listen to each other and love each other like we are family. After all we are all God’s children. We are all brothers and sisters so let’s act like it.

Have you ever tried had to do a group project? Working in a group is much better than working alone. When you work in a group, you get the opportunity to get work done faster and even do less work. You even get to socialize and talk with friends. Working in a group has many more benefits than working alone.
Working in a group can help you in many ways. One way it can help you is by allowing you do to less work and get work done faster. This is because the work would be split evenly between your group members making everyone have the same amount of work and reducing the amount of work each member has.
While working in a group has many benefits including getting less work and finishing faster, you can also socialize and talk to your friends. When you work in a group, you can talk to your group about ideas, and depending on the assignment, talk to your teammates. As long as you stay focused on your work and stay on topic, you can socialize and get to know your team better.
It is much better to work on a group rather than work alone. When you are working in a group, you get to share and socialize, you get less work, and you get work done faster. Working in a group is much more efficient than working alone.

A Single Tear
As I walk down my elementary school hallway, I’m completely oblivious to what the rest of my day is going to look like. To me, this is just the end to another school day full of positive, energetic people. Nothing from my life has prepared me for the words my parents are going to deposit from their mouths. I enter my mom’s clean, happy, and neat office without a care whatsoever. I walk to my favorite chair, sit down, and start working on my 5th grade homework without looking up. I hear whispers, so I jerk my head to the direction they are coming from. There, I see my mom’s freshly tear stained face and my dad’s disoriented body and I start to worry. My brother walks in, and instantly sees his parents, unlike me. My mom sniffles, and I question what is going on. She looks away, takes a deep breath, and turns to me. She explains how my dog’s blood stopped flowing a couple hours earlier. As she goes into details, my mind stops working. This is the first death I had ever experienced in my little 10 year old like before. I was scared, I was confused. Would we get new dogs? Would they be puppies? How is my life going to change? Questions such as these flowed through my mind, making it harder and harder to speak. My brother started bawling, after all, he was only seven. Soon enough, I found myself sniffling letting myself fall into the darkness that was taking me over.

Oboe Solo
There was a part at our school’s band winter concert where only one oboe could play with all the other woodwinds. That made me want to have the part. It was my number one goal.
Practice makes perfect, so that was the reason I practiced almost every night. I would make sure I would at least once play the whole song. Then I would practice only the part that we would be tested on for the solo. I would make sure to do this until everything was spot on. Even one mistake could make me not get the solo. Most times my mouth would get too tired of playing. At that point is where I’d stop.
The day of the test came by. I had been the second one to test and played perfectly and in tune. Minutes later I had learned I got the part. Happiness filled my body and all the butterflies in my stomach went away. We had practiced the song as a class and made sure everyone could play perfectly. It was the day of the winter concert, and I played perfectly. I couldn’t have been happier!
After all of this, my body was overjoyed, and I was so happy I accomplished my goal!

Today-
What is today?
It was tomorrow
It will be yesterday
But what does it mean?
Is today just a word to comfort?
To remind us we have time?
That time is what we cherish?
Why must we speak of today and say
“Tomorrow will come”
When today is tomorrow
And yesterday
And today
Today
What is today?

Getting a Chicken
When I was younger, I wanted a chicken. To get one though, I would have to research and find out all of their needs and what breeds would fit our lifestyle best. Now that I have five beautiful chickens, I have achieved my goal.
In 2017 my dad, brother, and I were at The Home Depot getting light switches. Earlier that day though, we were talking about getting chickens. As I was walking around the book area, I found a book about caring for chickens. I was ecstatic to find just what I needed. So, I clenched the book and sprinted back to my dad and showed him the book. He bought it for me and said that if I read every page and knew all of their needs, that we would buy a chicken.
A few months later on Easter weekend, we went to a store called Attwoods in Fort Worth. My dad said, “Okay, you can choose four baby chicks.” Once again I was overjoyed to be finally getting to my goal! I chose two black sex links, and two Rhode Island Reds. When I chose them though, I made sure that they were friends.
Today those chickens are all dead except for one Rhode Island Red. As a result of these chickens, I have learned that not all chickens will live, it is a way of nature. This has made me stronger and more responsible. This has given me responsibility because I have to make sure they have food and water.
Chickens are very important to me. They were a goal, now they are a way of life. Now that i have four leghorn crosses, and the lone Rhode Island Red, my goal of having chickens is achieved.

The eyes are as bright as the blue sky,
They sparkle at sunrise.
I am as short as grass,
But my dad is as tall as a tree.
Me a star? Hovering over good grades and,
Being the best I can be?
Quick as light speed,
Running till I can´t stand.
I have a heart like a bunny,
being sweet and happy all the time.
My life is under construction,
Ready for the next step.
My love for soccer is out of this world.
I am as brave as a hawk,
And smart like an eagle.
My family and I are stuck like glue,
Because of how much we love each other.
I am under God's path,
Going down the way he wants me too.
My life is a….

a journey that I have yet to conquer!

I've lost him, I know I have
and I can't turn back time.
I know what he's done is not a crime,
but the love still wants to grow.
He's let go of me,
and I accept the fact
that he shows no more interest to be exact,
but now who am I supposed to be.
I messed up what we had,
I know I did,
I should have not hid,
and now I'm here missing him real bad.
Still a part of me wishes
I could have done more
instead I was such a bore,
and now my heart barely twitches.
I know he's moved on,
and eventually I will have to too.
But I just want to stick on like glue
even more so because we had our chats at dawn.
Apart of me is missing,
and it seems like it can't be found.
My heart does no longer pound,
all of my time is spent on wishing.
All I want to do is cry,
he was my other half.
Everyone could see it even the staff,
and it's hard for me to say goodbye.
I know my heart has a crack,
I miss the past.
I thought we would last,
but I'm here for him to come back.

Michael Jordan once said,”If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” One will never know how far they could have made it if they don’t try. It is very important to never give up.
When one keeps trying one will reach success. For example, Oprah Winfrey grew up in poverty and was raised by a single mom. She wanted to do something great in life and little did she know she was going to have her own show and be a multimillionaire. Winfrey could not have done all these things if she gave up instantly. She had to go around the wall in front of her and be successful.
Min Yoongi, better know as Suga is a korean rapper and member of the boy band BTS. He also produces music. Although Yoongi makes a lot of money, there were times when he didn’t have enough money to eat and ride the bus home. Min Yoongi never gave up and got signed with BisHit Entertainment with BTS. Now, at age twenty-three he has millions of fans worldwide and has enough money to buy the bus he couldn’t ride.
In conclusion, Oprah Winfrey and Min Yoongi both had a rough start but they didn’t let that stop them. They didn’t give up and reached for their goals. If one gives up they’re throwing away a great opportunity. No one can achieve success without overcoming obstacles, so it is important to never give up.

The Old Tree
Old faithful tree with a heart of gold,
You had a soul that never grew cold
We watched as they burned you down
Our smiles quickly turned to frowns
We lost you, but we aren’t ready to let go
We wish they could have let you grow
I guess all good things come to an end,
We’ll see you soon, goodbye our friend

Birds begin to migrate,
As the temperature drops,
Looks like winter won’t be late.
Ice grows over car tops,
Some putting on ice skates,
But tomorrow by twelve o’clock,
The birds will be back in flocks,
The temperature will rise,
And it’ll stop the freeze,
The sun will be back out,
And it’ll be eighty degrees,
That’s because we live in Texas.

Obstacles are blockades, whether it’s literal or metaphorical they stand in your way. This causes problems that will knock you down. Most people let them and roll over for them, but some found the importance of never giving up, and they achieve success.
For example, Ol’ Sam Houston never gave up on his dream to free Texas. If Sammy had given up, Texas would most likely still be a part of Mexico. Luckily for us, he didn’t give up. With all the obstacles in his way, he could have given Texas up. He saw that never giving up was important, and pushed to the end. Now Texas is a part of the U.S.
Much the same as Houston, Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, never gave up. We would never had light in the form of a light bulb if not for Tommy. He failed 1000’s of times, he had every right to give up, but he didn’t. He pushed past his obstacles and didn’t give up. Once he reached the 1000 try, it paid off, and Edison made the light bulb
In the end, Houston and Edison faced numerous obstacles to achieve their goal. These obstacles, whether tremendous or small, stood in their paths to success. They never gave up and found ways over every obstacle. They reached their goal, and changed the world for the better.

Doesn't mean you

Just because
You lost your voice,
Doesn't mean your

Just because
You can't put it into words,
It doesn't mean it’s not

Trees are a big part of our life and to humans they make our earth so important. We need trees because they produce oxygen for us,a lot of animals use them for homes, and because trees produce most of our food.
One reason why trees are so important is because they produce oxygen for animals and humans. We need oxygen to live so if we didn’t have it there would be life on earth. One example is in The Lorax there are no trees so the people in the town have to buy oxygen to live,so with no trees there is no oxygen.
Another reason why we need trees is because of animals, animals need trees for home and some people build their houses out of trees wood.So if there was no trees lots of humans and animals would not have homes. For example in The Lorax he makes all the animals that live in trees leave because there is no homes in the trees for them.
Lastly if there was no trees most of our healthy food would be gone.Lots of animals need the fruit and vegetables in the trees to live.Without them we couldn’t grow the food that’s needed. For example in The Lorax he made the bares leave because there was no fruit for them to eat.
Oxygen, animals homes, and our healthy food are reasons why trees are so important.Without these plants there would be no earth.

Still there’s no stopping
All has a purpose
No matter what thing or man
They will all find theirs

Never Ending
Wide open green fields
Grass underneath your feet
The breeze blowing through the trees
Fields turn into long open roads
Cars screaming past
Soon the road controls what was once a boundless field
As time goes on so does the road
Changing and becoming new
The field is almost gone but is still thriving
The road is there but is not alone
Buildings and highways surround it
So large and tall
The field is small but is still trying
It was once so green and pure
But is now small and vulnerable
Soon it will no longer be everlasting

The Importance of Trees
We must not forget how important our trees are because we could not live without them. Trees are important because they give us a place to hangout, provide shade, and provide our food.
The first reason of why trees are important is so that we have a place to hangout. Think about what you can do with a tree. You can build a tree house so that you and your friends can hangout in it. Another thing you can do is build a swing so when you get board you can go outside and enjoy the fresh air.
The next reason of why trees are important is because the trees provide shade. Shade helps keep us cool on a hot and sunny day. You can also lay down in the shade and look at the clouds with your friends or family.
The third and final reason of why trees are important is because they give us food. Without trees and plants we would not have vegetables;without vegetables small animals could not eat. If those animals don’t eat they die and then they die, so the bigger animals don’t eat and they die and then we have no source of food what so ever so we die.
So providing shade, giving us a place to hangout, and being the source of our food are just some of the reasons trees are important. So next time you pass a tree be thankful cause one day they won’t be there.
