The Walden Weekly
June 7, 2024
Dear Walden Families,
Happy Summer, Walden! It's hard to believe that we have reached this point in the year. It has been a wonderful school year working with your children each and every day. We have seen them grow both physically and emotionally and we are so proud of them! We wish you and your family a fun and safe summer.
We also want to wish Ms. Grossman a heartfelt congratulations on her retirement! She has taught at Walden for over three decades and has had a positive impact on hundreds of children! We are going to miss her next year and wish her well!
Reports cards are posted in Family Access today at 3pm. Thank you to our teachers and staff for their hard work in writing these thoughtful progress reports.
I will be sending a mid-summer newsletter with information for next year, so be on the lookout!
Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in August!
- Stephanie Strenger
Summer Digital Tool Access Information
The digital tools in the table below can be accessed on a personal (home) device.
• Computer: Go to clever.com click "Login as student" on the top right, search for your school, and "Login with Google" using the student’s school issued dps109 email address and animal password OR by using a Clever badge if you have one.
• iPad: Install the Clever app as well if you would like.
In addition to those listed in the table, any digital tool used throughout the year that requires a Google sign-on with a dps109 email or a unique username/password created by the teacher, may be used as well! (i.e. WeVideo, CoSpaces Edu, Worldbookonline, etc.)
Please note: some features of the individual digital tools may become disabled throughout the summer as the companies make updates to their product in preparation for the 2024-2025 school year.
Reminders for student emails, passwords, and graduation years:
- Students' emails are their first name + last name + graduation year @ dps109(dot)org

Announcements from the LMC
Thank You from the LMC!
Mrs. Lovsin and Ms. Selena would like to extend our deepest thanks to all the parents who volunteered in the LMC throughout the year! Your assistance with inventory, book stickering, shelving, and more were an immense help. Thank you!
We would also like to thank every family for helping their students return their LMC books, or replace those that were lost. At the start of the year we had 55 books that had never been returned from the previous year. As of right now, we only have 2 books out. What a huge improvement! Thank you for helping your children practice library responsibility!
Summer Reading at the Deerfield Public Library!
We hope many of our Walden Wildcats will participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Deerfield Public Library! The first day to sign up for the program is Saturday, June 8, either at the library or at this website: deerfieldlibrary.beanstack.org/reader365.
There will be a Kickoff Celebration at DPL on June 8, from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm!
