Meeting Recap
The District 146 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 9 at the Robert Procunier Administration Center in Tinley Park.
During the meeting, the Board heard from Superintendent Dr. Jeff Stawick:
- Action plans based on the feedback from the Board’s staff survey have been developed. The plans were shared with staff last week. Staff are invited to reach out to Board President Darcy Nendza or Dr. Stawick at any time.
- CMS Graduation will be held at 6 p.m. on May 28, 2025 in the Central Middle School Gym.
- Elementary School Principals are planning a trip to Irons Oaks for all 5th grade students on May 12 and 13, 2025. This will give students an opportunity to meet and become friends with peers from other schools. More information will come as planning continues
- The District is prepared for any necessary emergency closings due to inclement weather. The District’s e-Learning Plan does not need to be renewed this year, but staff have been reviewing protocols.
- The next Board meeting will be held on January 13, 2025. There will be no Committee of the Whole meeting that month.
- The Board was reminded to submit any receipts from the Joint Annual Conference for reimbursement.
- The Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA) recognized Fulton’s 2024 Flash Jam and the District’s Monthly Board of Education Update at their annual Communications Awards Ceremony. Congratulations were extended to Anne Jackson, Joe Glase, Matt Kociolek, and Keegan Kociss.
- Dr. Stawick presented the Board with a draft resolution in support of Vision 2030, a legislative framework created by education organizations throughout the state. The Board will be asked to adopt the resolution at the January Regular Board Meeting.
The Board also heard the following:
- The Teachers Union Vice President stated that MAP testing is underway and students are doing a great job. Holiday concerts and student shops are in full swing, and many schools are hosting spirit weeks leading up to Winter Break. She wished all Board Members, Administrators, and staff Happy Holidays from the union.
- A representative of the ESP Union informed the Board that 15 bags of food were collected and donated to the Tinley Park Food Pantry as part of the ESP and Teachers Unions’ holiday food drive.
The Board took the following action at the meeting:
- Approved the Bid Letting for projects at Central Middle School.
- Approved resolutions regarding the 2024 Tax Levy.
- Approved a list of technology equipment to be declared as surplus so it can be sold, donated, or disposed of.
Following closed session to discuss personnel matters and a collective bargaining matter, the Board took the following action:
- Approved a notice of remedial warning for a tenured teacher.

Next Board Meeting
The next regular Board of Education meeting will be held on Monday, January 13, 2024 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Robert Procunier Administration Center, 6611 W. 171st Street in Tinley Park.
Did you know?
Although there are certain topics that can be discussed in a closed session, because a School Board is an elected governmental body, it can only take action during a public portion of the meeting.
