We had a great week celebrating love, friendship & kindness this week! It feels so wonderful to spread kindness in this way!

We cannot believe how fast February is going. The weather has provided many opportunities for us to be outside to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air and we have also been able to participate in skating activities at the Legal Arena.

Just a note that our parent teacher interviews are coming up on February 28th and 29th, please make sure to book a time to come and discuss your child's progress. These will also be the evenings when the Scholastic Book Fair will be open.

The words we say to our children greatly impact their self-esteem; it can shape their inner voice and confidence. However, we do have to be mindful of choosing the right words to boost their confidence in a healthy way.

Phrases such as “Great job” or “You’re the best!” sound like a great way to compliment a child, but it could have reverse impacts of believing these positive labels only apply when they’ve accomplished something. When we’re frustrated and use words such as “I can’t believe you just did that!” or “How many times do you need to be told?” can develop into negative thought patterns of self-doubt.

Instead, we want to focus on acknowledging positive behaviours and effort so they can still build self-esteem in times of mistakes and focus on having a growth mindset. Try phrases like “You worked so hard!” or “You kept trying and didn’t give up!”.

In this week’s guide, Big Life Journal shares the 3:1 ratio: a science-based strategy to build your child’s self-esteem.

We have officially entered the season of Lent. I pray that your Lenten prayer, fasting and almsgiving will bear much fruit in your lives.

We would like to welcome Father Ambrose back. I am sure he will have wonderful stories to share with us about his vacation.

Please join us for Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent at 7pm.

It is Potluck weekend. Please bring a dish to share and enjoy some great food and fellowship.

If someone would be available to vacuum the church and clean the washrooms this week, we would greatly appreciate it.
