A Note from Our Principals
Hello Waubesa Families,
We’re continuing with our monthly character focus of gratitude. We’re thankful for all of the Veterans and their families who attended our Veteran’s Day assembly on November 11. We thank you for your service and sacrifice.
We’re providing some reminders of our school arrival routines and times to help with a smooth morning transition for students, families, and staff. Our school day begins at 7:55, which means students are in their classrooms and seats at 7:55. To allow your child adequate transition time, please try to drop your child off no later than 7:52.
Early Drop-off: We ask that you wait until after 7:20 am to drop off your child as we do not have supervision scheduled until 7:25 am, which is the time our breakfast program begins. Upon arrival, students may report to the playground or to the cafeteria, if they are eating school breakfast. They will be supervised in both locations until the first bell rings at 7:47 am. With the weather changing, please be aware that if it is -1 degrees or colder or if it is raining, students will be directed to inside recess.
Just a friendly reminder of our procedure for Absences/Late Arrival/Early Pickup: Families are asked to follow our absence protocols by contacting use by 8:15 AM using one of the following methods:
Enter an Absence Request via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and select "More" then "Absence Requests". Full instructions can be found here.
If you have a medical note, please email it to your school’s attendance email shown in option #3.Call our office at 608-838-7667 Ext. 1 and leave a message
Email us at wisattendance@mcfsd.org
If you fail to call the office by 8:30 a.m., school personnel will contact you at home or work to confirm your child’s absence or tardiness.
If you have any questions or suggestions throughout the school year, we encourage you to use this form. We appreciate hearing directly from families when they have questions or concerns; thank you.
Thank you for your continued support. Soaring Higher Together!

Brooke Hauser: K-5 Associate Principal

Medical Attendance
Is your student missing school due to illness, injury or health-related appointments? Providing a medical note or appointment card will prevent these types of absences as counting towards your students' allotted 10 days of excused absences for the school year. Please reach out to District Nurse, Stephanie Peplinski at Peplins@mcfsd.org or wisattendance@mcfsd.org if you have additional questions about this process. You can also find more information about absences and attendance in the WIS parent handbook located on the school website.
Free COVID-19 tests available
U.S. households are eligible to order four free COVID-19 tests through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services at COVIDTests.gov. The COVID-19 Tests will detect current COVID-19 variants and can be used through the end of the year.
Many COVID-19 tests have extended expiration dates, so you may be able to use your COVID-19 tests after the expiration date that is printed on the box. To find out if your test has an extended expiration date, check the FDA’s list of extended expiration dates.
Pneumonia on the Rise
Per WI DHS and CDC Mycoplasma pneumonia (M. pneumoniae or walking pneumonia) activity is increasing nationwide and in Wisconsin. Every three to seven years an increase in M. pneumoniae cases are identified in the United States. People of all ages are at risk for getting M. pneumoniae infection, but it is most common among young adults and school-aged children. There is no vaccine to prevent M. pneumoniae infection. For moderate to severe cases, antibiotic therapy can be prescribed by a clinician. Please view the CDC website for additional information and resources. If you have a cough, fever, run down/extremely tired, difficulty/painful breathing we recommend that you contact your healthcare provider.
Please review our Guidelines for sending your child to school and MSD Health Services Handbook. Remember, if your child is sick please keep them home.
Temperature above 100.4°F
Vomiting or diarrhea
Frequent uncontrollable cough
Your child should remain at home until fever, vomiting/diarrhea has stopped for 24 hours without the use of medication. As well, please notify the School/Health Office if your student has tested positive for a communicable disease such as: Influenza/Flu, Covid 19, Pneumonia, Strep Throat, RSV, Hand Foot & Mouth, Pertussis, etc.
Thank you for your partnership as we work to keep our students and staff healthy and safe each day!
