Flashcards and More!
Tech Tip Tuesday (December 12, 2023)

A powerful habit for students and teachers!
I'm sure many of us created sets on index cards bound together by a rubber band that usually had a knot after taking it off so much to study my SAT words.
While the world has changed, students still need help with retrieval practice to help build knowledge for more complex and creative tasks. Research repeatedly proves that there is merit in repeated practice and returning to flashcards to help students make learning last.
Dr. Pooja Agrawal has a quick method to help with flashcard practice that is akin to the rinse, lather, repeat that we also use daily (hopefully):
1) Retrieve: Students should make sure they are retrieving the answer.
2) Re-order: Students should shuffle their deck each time they go through it to challenge themselves
3) Repeat: Students should keep cards in their deck until they've correctly retrieved it three times.

Let's take it to the next level (or maybe easier) with some tech!
