What’s Happening in March
Dr. Isett's Weekly Message
Week of March 10, 2025
Greetings, Colts Families,
This past week has been filled with incredible honors and celebrations, and I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to our entire school community. It is with immense pride that I share that River Heights has been recognized as a "School to Watch" by the California League of Middle Schools!
This prestigious recognition was the result of a reflective and rigorous process that began last year. Representatives from the California League of Middle Schools visited every classroom and office space, engaging with our students, staff, parents, and administrators to see firsthand the excellence that defines River Heights. Their validation confirmed what I have always known—our school is truly special because of the unwavering dedication, passion, and hard work of our incredible educators, support staff, and families. On Friday, we were officially presented with this award, and I could not be prouder of our Colts community for making this achievement possible!
Beyond this honor, I want to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our students. Our Dual Language Immersion (DLI) students, under the leadership of Mrs. Jordan, showcased their incredible skills while competing for a spot in the district-wide DLI competition. Meanwhile, our mathletes, guided by Mrs. Quiñonez and Mrs. O’Berry, earned impressive placements at the CNUSD Math Field Day, demonstrating their dedication and excellence in mathematics. Congratulations to all of our students and their coaches for their hard work and achievements!
Next week, we are excited to celebrate Math Spirit Week in honor of Pi Day on March 14! Students and staff are encouraged to join in the fun by dressing up each day and showing their love for math. On March 14th, our math teachers will host exciting Pi Day activities in their classrooms and during lunch to make math engaging and memorable for all. We can’t wait to see everyone’s creative outfits and enthusiasm as we celebrate the magic of mathematics together!
Every day, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to serve as the principal of River Heights. The dedication of our staff, the resilience of our students, and the unwavering support of our families make this an extraordinary place to learn and grow. Thank you for trusting us with your children’s education and for being such an integral part of our school’s success. Together, we continue to make River Heights a place where every Colt thrives!
Kind Regards,
Eva Isett, Ed. D.

Preparing for High School
Help us ensure our 8th graders can participate in 8th grade activities
Families of 8th Graders,
To participate in end-of-year activities, students must meet expectations in grades, attendance, tardies, and behavior. The monthly no-go list determines eligibility. Our counseling team is available for extra support if needed. Thank you for helping your student finish strong!

A message from our counselors
As we continue to support our students’ growth and development, one key area we focus on is self-efficacy—the belief in one’s ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task. When students believe they can overcome challenges, they are more likely to stay motivated, persevere through difficulties, and achieve their goals.
How Can You Help Your Student Develop Self-Efficacy?
Here are a couple of activities you can do at home to reinforce this important skill:
🔹 The “I Can” Jar – Have your student write down accomplishments, big or small, on slips of paper and place them in a jar. When they feel discouraged, they can pull out a note to remind themselves of what they have already achieved.
🔹 Goal-Setting Challenge – Encourage your child to set a small, achievable goal for the week (e.g., improving a math grade, trying a new sport, or speaking up in class). Help them break it into steps and celebrate their progress along the way.
By reinforcing positive self-belief and encouraging a growth mindset, we can help our students build confidence in their abilities.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students thrive! If you have any questions or need additional resources, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

School Safety & Security
See something, say something
At River Heights, the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community are our top priority. Students, if you witness or experience bullying, threats, or suspicious behavior, report it to a trusted adult. Parents, stay engaged by talking to your children about their school experiences, monitoring online activities, and reporting concerns.
Together, we can ensure our school remains a safe, secure, and supportive environment for everyone. Thank you for your continued vigilance and partnership in this effort.
Witness Statement
We take allegations of bullying and harassment seriously. Please have your student complete a witness statement if they have something to report. If it is an urgent matter, please call the front office at (951) 738-2155, if it is an emergency, please call 911.
