Dear Lions,

Week 16 - Welcome back from Thanksgiving break!

"I hope you had a restful Thanksgiving break! There are many upcoming athletic events and student performances this week. Please keep reading for the full scoop.

Athletics Events:

Winter sports are in full swing with Girls' and Boys' basketball, soccer, and wrestling. Be sure to check the athletics calendar below for the times of upcoming home games.

Visual and Performing Arts Events:

Join us for Dimensions, our largest dance recital to date, featuring performances from Dance 1, Dance 2, and the Lionheart Dance Company! The show will run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 6:00 PM, with tickets available for just $5. It’s going to be an incredible showcase of our students’ hard work and talent—don’t miss it! Tickets can be purchased at the door. We hope to see you there!

Other reminders

Winter Dress Code Reminders: In addition to our regular dress code rules, please note that students may not wear ski masks or face coverings unless needed for health purposes.

Key Dress Code Guidelines:

• No tube tops or strapless tops

• Clothing should not reveal undergarments – this includes excessively ripped pants or shirts with holes

• Clothing should not expose undergarments or private areas – such as short shorts or sagging pants

• No tank tops with oversized arm openings or undershirt tank tops worn alone

• No items with inappropriate images or content – this includes references to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sexual content, or any illegal activities

We understand that fashion trends come and go, but adhering to the dress code helps foster a focused and respectful school environment.

If a Student Arrives Out of Dress Code:

1. We will check if the student has an appropriate change of clothing available.

2. If not, we will contact a parent/guardian to bring a change of clothes or arrange for the student to be picked up to change.

Academic Support

As always, tutoring is available for students seeking academic support. After School tutoring is available for all student Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 3:40pm - 4:30pm. Before school tutoring is available Monday-Friday from 7:40 am - 8:40 am.

Código de Vestimenta de Invierno:
Además de nuestras reglas regulares de código de vestimenta, tengan en cuenta que los estudiantes no pueden usar pasamontañas o cubiertas faciales a menos que sean necesarios por razones de salud.

Pautas Clave del Código de Vestimenta:

• No se permiten tops sin tirantes o tipo bandeau.
• La ropa no debe revelar ropa interior, incluyendo pantalones o camisas excesivamente rotos.
• La ropa no debe exponer ropa interior ni áreas privadas, como pantalones caídos o shorts muy cortos.
• No se permiten camisetas sin mangas con aberturas de brazo exageradas o camisetas interiores usadas solas.
• No se permite ropa con imágenes o contenido inapropiado, incluyendo referencias a drogas, alcohol, tabaco, contenido sexual o actividades ilegales.

Entendemos que las tendencias de moda cambian, pero cumplir con el código de vestimenta ayuda a fomentar un ambiente escolar enfocado y respetuoso.

Como siempre, ofrecemos tutoría para los estudiantes que necesitan apoyo académico.

Does your student need additional social emotional support at EHS? EHS offers many on campus student support groups to support our Lions through the many issues today's teens may be dealing with. If you would like to refer your student for a student support group, please scan the QR code and complete the google form.

Some examples of Student Support Groups offered at EHS are:

Mood Group, Anxiety, Life Skills, Anger Management, Grief/Loss, Conflict Resolution, and Substance Abuse.

You can also use the form to suggest a group your student may benefit from.

Scholarships and grants are helpful ways to fund your child’s college education. They provide you with free money that can go towards tuition or other educational expenses.This year we have partnered with Going Merry to make completing the FAFSA and finding scholarships easier than ever! Please have your student go to the School Counseling Office for assistance.

EHS parents/guardians have three options for viewing their student's grades, assignments, and attendance.

1. AV High School District App (Lion Link) - This app gives you new, information, as well as your student's progress. It is available on both the Apple App Store and Google App Store. When in the app store, search for AVUHSD and download the app.
2. PowerSchool App - This app ties right into your PowerSchool Parent Portal. You will get live updates on grades, assignments, and attendance. This app is also found on the Apple App Store and Google App Store. Search for PowerSchool and use district code: NWMZ.

There are some helpful links below to get your PowerSchool Parent Portal account set up for the school year.

If you need to clear an absence, please email the EHS Attendance office at ehs-attendance@avhsd.org. Make sure to include your student's name, student ID number, date of absence, reason for the absence, your name, and relationship to the student. You may also call the attendance office at 661-946-3800 Extensions 1050 (A-L) and 1045 (M-Z).
