Welcome Back Eagles!

Greetings Evergreen Families,

Welcome back, Eagles, and a special welcome to our new Eagles joining us this year! I hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with relaxation and fun.

Our staff warmly welcomes you to another exciting school year. Our school has been busy all summer long with new physical upgrades, cleaning and our teachers and support staff have been collaborating and working diligently to ensure the school is ready for our amazing student leaders.

This newsletter, which will be sent out monthly, contains important information to help you stay informed. Please follow us on all our communication channels to stay current on all of our school activities, news, and events.

Evergreen Elementary School and The Leader in Me

Evergreen had a successful first year implementing The Leader in Me, and we are proud to continue our journey this coming school year. The Leader in Me (LIM) program is our leadership model rooted in the idea that everyone can be a leader. This year, we will continue to focus on leadership, ensuring all students are empowered to lead and find the genius in every child and staff member. The Leader in Me program is designed to: Teach LEADERSHIP to every student, Create a CULTURE of student empowerment, Align systems to drive results in ACADEMICS.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

Evergreen continues to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We create School-wide expectations which are consistent with our motto, S.O.A.R. and the Leader in me Habits.

Students, families, and staff are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the school wide expectations displayed all around campus, and the behavior flow chart.

Remember to be Safe, On-Task, Accountable, and Respectful! Eagles SOAR!

S.O.A.R. Tickets

Students earn these tickets positive behavior, and can be redeemed for the SOAR store and Eagle events.

Class Assignments

Class assignments will be posted outside the office at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 9th, and remain there over the weekend. You can also log into your Aeries Parent Portal to find your child’s teacher assignment on August 9 at 5:00 pm. Data Confirmation has to be completed before you can view your child's teacher. After completing this, click the “Student Info” tab and the “Supplemental” tab. You will be able to see your teacher assignment here. If you have any problems getting into your Parent Portal, please go to our school website https://www.evergreeneagles.org/ and look under the “Parents” tab for directions.

First Day of School /Principal Parent Meeting

The first day of school is scheduled for Monday, August 12, 2024. The first day of school is a minimum day. Please note the following grade level dismissal times:

TK/K....................11:35 AM

1st-5th.................11:45 AM

Parents will be allowed to enter the campus to walk their child(ren) to their classroom on the first day of school. However, parents may not enter the classroom. Additionally, there will be a Principal/Parent meeting at 8:15 in the MPR. Everyone is welcome to attend.

TK & Kindergarten Meet and Greet

We extend a warm welcome to all incoming TK and K students and their families to attend our annual Meet and Greet. The event will take place in our Multi-Purpose Room on Thursday, August 8, starting at 9:00 AM. We highly encourage you and. your child to attend this important meeting. Back To School Night

We encourage you to attend our Back to School Night. During this event, teachers will outline their instructional programs for the year and provide valuable information. Please note that this is a parent-only event, and childcare will not be provided.

Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast and Lunch will be free for all students for the 2024-2025 school year. Students can still bring lunch if they opt to. Lunch count will be taken every morning. Menus are available at www.walnutnutrition.org. Please note that menus are subject to change due to supply chain issues. Students with food allergies or requiring meal accommodations need a signed “Medical Statement Form” on file with Nutrition Services. This form is available on the website at www.walnutnutrition.org and must be turned into the nutrition services department.

Meal applications

Although every student receives a free breakfast and lunch, it is important that an application be completed. Please click this link for more information.

Lunch from home:

If you are planning on providing lunch to your child, we ask that you please bring it to the office no later than 9:30 AM labeled with your child's name and classroom. This also includes water bottles. Thank you

Attendance

Attendance is a very important part of your child’s education. Please schedule doctor, dental or any other appointments after school.

PLEASE PLAN YOUR VACATIONS DURING_THE SCHEDULED WINTER AND SPRING BREAKS ONLY. Per district policy, students with 3 or more unexcused absences are considered truant and their absences will be monitored by our district’s child welfare and attendance personnel.

Volunteers

“Parents or guardians who are interested in helping in the classroom on a weekly or monthly basis will need to provide the following: TB test (good for 4 years - fee paid by applicant) driver's license and the completed application form.

Parents or guardians who are interested in chaperoning field trips or helping with class parties will need to provide the following: driver's license and the completed application form.”

School Bus Transportation

If you need school bus transportation, contact the Walnut Valley Unified School District’s Transportation Department at

(909) 595-1261, Ext. 31384. This is a fee for service program. If you are interested in purchasing a bus pass please contact the Transportation Department for additional information.

Child Care

If you require childcare for your child before or after school, we have an excellent program on campus called the Before and After School Enrichment Program. This is a fee for service program. For information you can call the Child Care Department at (909) 595-1261, Ext. 32240, or call the Evergreen Child Care office at (909) 594-1041, Ext. 39148.

Smart watches, cellphones, electronics etc.

No toys will be allowed at school (i.e. fidget spinners, Pokémon cards, Nintendo games…). Cell Phones and Smart Watches are allowed but not encouraged. They will need to be in the backpack at ALL times. Students are NOT allowed to use them during school hours. Evergreen Elementary School is not responsible for loss or damages.
