Principal's Message
Dear 8th-Grade Families,
We are so close to the end! I can't believe it! Listed below are a few important 8th-grade updates:
May 16, 2024 8th-Grade Information Meeting
This Zoom meeting covered Great America and the 8th-grade Promotion Ceremony
Here are the Google Slides: 8th-Grade Information May 16, 2024
Here is the Recording: 8th-Grade Info Recording
Please note: I updated the Google Slides, so some updates are not in the presentation. The updates are on the following slides: 3, 4, 6, 7, 13, 17, 20, 23, and 25.
Although this was not mentioned in the meeting, permission slips will be given to students going to Great America during first period on Monday, May 20. Students must turn in their permission slips no later than Wednesday, May 22.
Participation in the Ceremony and Other End of the Year Activities
All 8th-grade students have been reminded that all end-of-the-year activities are something that they can earn.
8th-grade families and students were sent this letter in November, and students have met with admin as a group to review expectations periodically throughout the year.
Specifically, students must:
Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA
Avoid behavior and conduct issues
Complete all state assessments and district i-Ready assessments
The final decision on participation will be shared with students at risk of not participating in the week of each event. Final grades will be submitted on May 31st. Students not meeting the 2.0 expectation will be informed by June 7th if they can participate in the graduation ceremony and dance.
High School Summer Reading
Our English language arts teachers will review these requirements with students.

Students will arrive at school like a normal day and leave for Great America by 9:30 a.m. They will have designated groups and meeting locations at Great America, and all students are expected to meet back at 4:00 p.m. to take attendance and board the buses to return. Please review the Google Slides and/or the recorded information session for Great America information.
