Learning about Martin Luther King Day
Last week Mrs. Dunphy took her Kindergarten class to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. painting in the Hansen lobby, to teach her class about the importance of celebrating Martin Luther King Day on Monday.
Hello Hansen Families,
I hope you've all been enjoying your long weekend and I want to wish everyone a Happy Martin Luther King Day on Monday. Last week at Hansen we wrapped up our STAR assessments, had a book character visit, had our 5th graders enjoy a pep rally hosted by their CHS senior leadership class friends, and enjoyed two days of outdoor recess - the only two in the last two weeks!
With extremely low temperatures forecasted for this coming week, we hope everyone can enjoy getting outside this weekend! For next week and going forward this winter, on any extremely cold school days, parents please make sure your child is wearing the warmest clothes possible, and has a hat and mittens or gloves, please.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Thank you,
Paul McKnight

National 4th Graders Day on Monday!
National 4th Graders Day was originally the idea of two teachers from New Jersey. National 4th Graders Day is celebrated on the second Monday in January, this past Monday, Jan. 13th.
Fourth-grade students are taking on more challenges in math, reading, writing, social studies, science, as well as art, music, world language, and physical education. They work hard, yet still are guided by a wonderful imagination. They really shine when they are in charge of their own learning and usually shimmer brightest when they are able to use their creativity along with their newly acquired skills.
On Monday they participated in learning activities centered on the number 'four', and celebrated the magic of fourth grade!
