Hiteon Highlights Newsletter
AUGUST 2021
Principal's Message
Greetings Hiteon Community,
We are excited to announce our Meet Your Teacher event!! It will be on Thursday, September 2.
It means a lot that we will be coming back to in-person instruction this year and a sense of normalcy. Our traditional "Meet Your Teacher Event" will be re-imagined next week.
The plan is to hold “Meet Your Teacher” virtually. After weighing all our options and the current state of the pandemic, we felt it is the safest choice for our community.
We will be asking families to attend a Zoom meeting at the following times according to the first letter of your child’s last name. We have purposely created smaller groups of families so students, families, and teachers can have a smaller group to interact with on Zoom. Your child’s teacher will be sending you a Zoom link out later next week. Please note that you have 20 minutes to visit all of your children’s classrooms. It is meant to be quick introductions and time for students to familiarize themselves with their new teacher before the first day of school. We will ask that families exit at the end of their scheduled session so the next group of families can be welcomed in.
4:00 - 5:30 pm Meet Your Teacher Event (Virtual)
Attend when the initial of your last name is scheduled.
4:10 - 4:30 pm A - I
4:40- 5:00 pm J - Q
5:10 - 5:30 pm R - Z
The purpose of this event is to give families and students a chance to meet their teacher(s) and the teacher(s) to meet their students and families. Please plan to attend the virtual Meet Your Teacher with your child. We ask that you make an appointment for a different time if you need to have a one-on-one conversation with your child’s teacher.
Since this is a virtual event, please make sure your child(ren) brings their school supplies on the first day of school. Below you will find the school supply lists and a calendar for September.
Next week also expect to receive a “Welcome Letter” from your child’s classroom teacher for this school year. It will come via email mid-week next week.
Please feel free to contact the Main Office Team if you have any questions. We appreciate your continued support and flexibility while we navigate opening school to in-person learning. We look forward to welcoming all our students and filling the classrooms of Hiteon with the sounds and sights of students engaged in learning.
Best,
Meghan Warren, Principal
Jenny Read-Emslie, Assistant Principal

WELCOME TO HITEON'S KINDERGARTEN
The Kindergarten Team is so excited to meet your child(ren), our newest Hiteon Hawks. Typically at Hiteon, the kindergarten team does a Kindergarten Ramp Up. The Ramp Up provides the entire Kindergarten Team the time to meet and teach all our kindergartners. We have found this process helps us build a strong community of learners and gives us time to get to know each student better to make the best class placement decision for your child(ren).
We have decided this year to start the year on a more secure footing for students and families. We are choosing to assign students to a teacher. You will learn about your child’s class placement the week of August 30 mid-week. Your child’s teacher will be sending out a welcome email on that date. We believe this year, especially, it is important that teachers, students, and families begin to have collaborative conversations even before your child’s first day of school. On September 8 and 9, kindergartners do not attend school. These days are for teachers to connect with families. We will be sending more information about what this entails soon.
- Friday, September 10, students with last names beginning with the letters A-L will attend school,
- Monday, September 13, students with the last name beginning with M-Z will attend school.
- All students will attend Tuesday, September 14.
Please feel free to contact Hiteon if you have any questions.
Be well!
The Kindergarten Team
Jennifer Ashley, Michelle Maddux & Jenny Rogers
