Smore - New Format for Faculty Focus
I am trying out a new format for newsletters both for you and for families. I am hoping for improved readability with visual organization options and, for families, more options for translation than I have through School Messenger. If there is anything you would like to see integrated into the newsletters, please let me know.
With the current return date of April 6, Term 3 ends April 17, ...changes tbd
Technology & Access Updates
A couple of items to share:
- Zoom: After our Monday meeting, I learned that IT is looking into licensing for Zoom. This is good news, since a) kids can't currently access Google Meet, and b) Zoom has better organizer controls; in Meet anyone participating can mute or bump another participant out. Not a great option for using with students. So, if you want to try it out, have a go.
- Printed Packets are set to be available for families at Beeman & Vets Thursday 11-12 during lunch pick-up. Thanks for getting items to me. I am working on collating and getting them to Gregg.
- Chromebooks for Families: Also on Thursday & Friday at 2 Blackburn 10:00-12:00, Chromebooks will be distributed to families who do not have one; one per family who needs it.The District is working to ensure that people have internet as it's free for the next few months from Comcast. Notification is going out by phone and email today.
- Communication with Families: Please keep me informed of any outreach you are doing with families...send a copy of a video or interactive opportunity. Thanks!
Equity is our goal
Remember to stay in the supplemental/enrichment mindset when selecting resources and providing connection opportunities. Offering practice of past skills is fine. If you are offering students with electronic access the opportunity to make up work toward their grade, please think about how you can also do that for those who are offline. It's tricky.

Event Information
O'Maley Virtual Academic Bowl
Despite the date being April 1, this is not a prank! Guidance is coordinating an online experience for kids. Most likely Zoom and Kahoot will be used, but specifics will be out shortly on connecting and participating.
On a related note, you may have seen "talk" in the O'Maley Staff email forum about a Spirit Week in which students and staff could post pictures, video, dress in a theme, etc. More to come as details are solidified.
