From Miss Angela
Dear VAP Families,
I hope you enjoyed a restful and meaningful long weekend. Yesterday, as we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I hope you were able to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of justice, equality, and compassion—values that continue to inspire and guide our community.
We'd also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for our Open House last Wednesday. It was wonderful to see so many of you connecting with our teachers and exploring the exciting opportunities offered for next year. If you haven’t yet taken advantage of our priority re-enrollment discount, please remember that it ends next Monday. This is a great opportunity to secure your child’s spot for the upcoming school year at a discounted rate.
Our middle school students had an incredible time at the Winter Dance on Friday evening! From the decorations to the music and the energy on the dance floor, it was truly a night to remember. Thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff who helped make the event so special.
A quick reminder that the 2nd quarter officially ends this Friday. Please take a moment to check in with your child and log in to Gradelink to ensure all assignments are turned in and they are in good academic standing. Your support in helping them finish the quarter strong is greatly appreciated.
As we look ahead, we’re excited to announce our Valentine’s Day Candy Gram fundraiser. This initiative will support our sister school in Altadena, where several families have been severely affected by the recent wildfires. Sending a candy gram is a sweet way to spread joy while contributing to a meaningful cause. You can find more details on how to purchase below.
Finally, be sure to check out the information below for more on upcoming events and activities. Thank you for your continued support of our vibrant VAP community.
Word of the Month: Teamwork
This month, we're focusing on teamwork, and what better way to showcase it than with our middle school scientists in action? Check out these students working together to dissect a frog! From sharing tools to analyzing anatomy, their collaboration shows how much we can achieve when we combine our efforts and support one another. Great job, team! Stay tuned for more examples of teamwork happening all around our school!
Staff Birthdays
As we close out January, we’re excited to celebrate the final birthdays of the month by honoring two extraordinary veteran teachers who continue to make an unforgettable impact on our VAP community.
Mr. Josiah – January 27th
Mr. Josiah is the heartbeat of every classroom he steps into and every team he coaches. His boundless energy and enthusiasm inspire both students and colleagues alike. He gives his all to everything he does and is always there when you need him—a true pillar of strength and reliability. Our school wouldn’t be the same without his passion and unwavering dedication.
Mr. Mitch – January 30th
Mr. Mitch is a gentle giant with a heart of gold. His warm laughter, kindness, and genuine care for everyone he meets create a sense of comfort and joy that radiates throughout the school. His sense of humor and love for learning remind us all of the beauty and fun in education. Our school community is better every day because of him.
Let’s celebrate Mr. Josiah and Mr. Mitch for the incredible impact they’ve had on all of us. Wishing them both the happiest of birthdays and a year filled with the same joy they bring to others!
