DECEMBER
Spur Families, thank you so much for all the canned good donations. We were able to donate 840 pounds of food to Community Link. What a blessing during the holiday season! Spurs Ambassadors are still collecting coins and rubber ducks for a few more weeks. The children fighting cancer at Cook Children’s Hospital will be delighted to receive a duck during the holidays. We are so grateful for your caring hearts when it comes to assisting others during the holiday season. Our Kindness Club will be outside on Fridays to spread some kindness and holiday spirit. Feel free to give them some horn honks as you pass through the line.
Thank you for participating in College and Career Awareness Week. Our students had an amazing time at Career Day! Our 4th and 5th Graders also enjoyed their presentation with Tarrant County College. We will continue to discuss college and career readiness throughout the school year. Please continue to check updates and events on Facebook for Mrs. Taylor Comanche Springs School Counselor.
The Counseling Office would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May you enjoy your days off with family and friends and have a blessed holiday season.
PLAY IT SAFE
Play it Safe!® child abuse awareness and prevention program uses age-appropriate materials to educate children Pre-K through high school in ways they can best learn and respond. Scripts and videos are developed through an evidence-based approach to teach children and teens how to reduce their risk of sexual and physical abuse by recognizing potentially abusive behavior, responding appropriately to threatening situations, and reporting abuse to a trusted adult. Some of the program topics include safe, unsafe, and confusing touch for elementary-aged children and sexting, healthy relationships and dating violence for middle and high school-aged children.

COINS FOR CANCER
Our Spur Ambassadors have decided to partner with Orange Out to collect coins so they can purchase rubber ducks for cancer patients at Cook Children's Hospital during the holidays. Let’s show our community some love. We want these children to know that someone special out there is thinking about them, fighting with them, lending them strength and courage. We will have a donations container outside the counselor’s office each morning for students to drop off their coins. The coins will be used to purchase the rubber ducks. If you would rather purchase rubber ducks, instead of giving coins, you can turn them in to Mrs. Taylor. The coin drive will start on Monday, November 11, 2024, and run through Friday, December 6, 2024. We GREATLY appreciate your support in advance.
POP TABS
Ronald McDonald House Charities: a nonprofit family & children's charity dedicated to supporting families with sick children in their time of need. Little things can make a big difference. You can help support the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth by collecting the little tabs you pull to open soda, soup or other aluminum cans. The funds generated from recycling these aluminum gems help offset the House’s expenses. Collecting pop tabs is a great program that benefits the Ronald McDonald House families. Spur Ambassadors will be collecting pop tabs all year long. You may drop them off at the counselor’s office in the container marked for Ronald McDonald Pop Tabs.
All About Mrs. Taylor
Hello, my name is Kelly Taylor. I am delighted to be your child's professional school counselor at Comanche Springs Elementary. The 2024-2025 school year will be my seventh full year as the Comanche Springs counselor. This year marks my twenty-ninth year in education and my sixteenth year at Eagle Mountain Saginaw Independent School District. I received my Master’s in Education from Lamar University and my teaching degree in Education with a minor in Reading from Texas Wesleyan University. Formerly, I was a 5th/4th-grade ELAR (English/Language Arts) teacher at Elkins Elementary. Previously, I taught for thirteen years in the Crowley Independent School District (Grades 2nd, 3rd, and 6th) and served as the department head for English/Language Arts and Social Studies. I have two beautiful children, a wonderful and supportive husband, and a fur baby named Rocco. My daughter is a graduate of The University of North Texas with a degree in Business Marketing and is a tattoo artist. My son has just completed his first year of University Honors at The University of Texas in Austin, Hook 'Em! I enjoy traveling to Europe, the beach, shopping, walking Rocco, and trying new restaurants. I am looking forward to another great year at Comanche. Go, SPURS!!
