Meet The SES Leadership Team
K.C. Mitchell, Executive Director, Special Education
K.C. brings 27 years of experience to his new role as Executive Director of Special Education for the Yakima School District. He holds an A.A. in early childhood education, a B.A. in elementary education with a special education endorsement, and a master’s degree in administration. K.C. has taught and held leadership roles in the West Valley, Sunnyside, and Yakima School Districts. His dedication to breaking learning barriers for underserved students and families is evident in his commitment to meeting the needs of students, families, and staff. Kevin Brennan, Director, Special Education
Kevin Brennan brings extensive experience to this new role, having served as Assistant Principal at Stanton Academy for the past year. He previously worked as Special Services Instructional Coordinator for a neighboring district and spent 23 years teaching special education and social studies. Kevin holds a Bachelor's degree in History, a Master’s degree in History, and administrative credentials from Heritage University. Known for championing inclusive reforms, he led the Inclusionary Practices Project and implemented College in the High School courses. Dr. Jamie Johnson, Assistant Director, Special Education
Dr. Jamie Johnson has 17 years of educational experience and joined the district in 2021 as Early Learning Assistant Principal, later becoming Principal. She holds a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, a Master's in Multicultural Education, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Jamie has worked as a paraeducator, teacher, and vice principal, specializing in special education, preschool, and students with behavioral difficulties. She earned National Board Certification in Early Childhood in 2017. Jamie has lived in the Yakima Valley for 20 years with her husband and three children, who attend Yakima schools.
Kelli Riddle, Assistant Director, Special Education
Kelli has dedicated 16 years to the Yakima School District, starting as a special education teacher at Hoover and Gilbert before becoming the Assistant Director of Special Education three years ago. She began her career as a para-educator in the Selah School District. Kelli holds a special education certification and a Master’s in Special Education from Heritage University, along with a Program Administration Certification from CWU. She is actively involved in the District Equity Committee, Best Mentoring, PBIS, and the Special Education Heritage Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children.
