NORDIC SKI RESULTS
Congratulations to the boys sprint relay team of seniors Erik Olson and Luke O'Rourke for their 8th place finish at the 2025 MSHSL Nordic Ski Racing State meet at Giants Ridge this past Wednesday. A great finish to the season!
A few facts about Nordic skiing:
-There are no classes for high school Nordic skiing in Minnesota. All 88 teams in the state compete at the same level.
-Skiers ski both disciplines - freestyle and classic.
-Skiers can compete in one of two events at the state meet after section qualifying (team and individual): The individual pursuit, where an individual skis a 5k freestyle and a 5k classic for a combined time, or the sprint relay, where teams of 2 each ski 2 laps of 1400m.
-Nordic skiing has been an Olympic sport since 1924.
The Irondale Nordic program is always looking to add to its team and offers equipment rental! Head coach is Chris Torvi.

REAFFIRMING OUR COMMITMENT TO EACH STUDENT
Recently our district has been receiving questions about the status of the U.S. Department of Education and the impact potential changes may have on our schools and school district. It is important to understand that our primary relationship is with the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and that the majority of our support and funding comes from the state and local level. In recent days, the MDE has communicated its commitment to providing stability for our students, educators and our schools. As a district we remain committed to meeting the needs of each of our students and continuing to provide the kinds of programs, services and support to which our students and families have become accustomed. Just a few examples include the Career Pathways Program, the Early College Program and the Equity Promise. In a time when much is unclear, be assured that the focus of Mounds View Public Schools remains on ensuring each student experiences access, opportunities and achievement in a safe and welcoming learning environment.

Physicals can be turned in to Maggie Schley in the Activities Department at Irondale via physical paperwork, email, or fax. Full instructions are available on our registration webpage.
