April 8-12
Principal's Corner
Happy April!! I hope that you were all able to enjoy the break with your children. The weather did not exactly cooperate, but we had a few nice days. Speaking of the weather not cooperating, the solar eclipse was obscured with clouds too, but it was still a pretty cool experience. I hope that you were all able to get outside and experience it!
This is the time of the year that it feels like the days go by faster and faster. April 12 is the last day of the third quarter, and we will be entering the NYS ELA testing window for grades 3-6 when we return from break. There are a lot of exciting things to look forward to during the last ten weeks of school! Our sixth grade students will be going to Washington D.C. again this year and we are really looking forward to the trip. The sixth grade students will also be taking a field trip to the JA Biz Town installment in the Kodak Theater Building. They will experience what it is like to have a job, work at a job, and manage their money. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage in very authentic learning. All second grade students in the RCSD will be attending a free field trip to the Seneca Park Zoo in the coming weeks! We have partnered with Delores Jackson-Radney to provide the "Get on the Bus" historical tour of Rochester in June. Students in grades 4-6 will be touring places in Rochester that were important during the civil war and the civil rights movement, as well as visiting some amazing murals.
Family Day at the Memorial Art Gallery
We have arranged a wonderful day of fun for families at the Memorial Art Gallery! This free event for families will take place on Saturday, May 11. We will meet at School 46 at 12:00 noon to eat lunch, which will be provided. A bus will bring come at 12:30 and we will leave school PROMPTLY at 12:45 and head over to the Memorial Art Gallery for a guided tour with the amazing Delores Jackson-Radney. We will load up and return to school by 2:30. If you are interested in coming and would like to reserve your spots, please fill out this form ASAP: MAG Family Day Form
This is a first come, fist served opportunity! I will only be counting people who select "YES" in our final count. Don't miss the bus!
Don't forget to visit our School 46 Website for announcements, and PTA information.
And make sure that you take a look at the MANY fliers below. There are many opportunities for families and students coming up through the RCSD as well as the City Recreation Department.
Eastman Dental Program
There is still time to get your pink forms in if you would like your child to participate in the Eastman Dental program. As soon as we have a final count, they can figure out a schedule and you will be notified about the days and times that your children will be seen. Please call the main office (288-8008) or email us at 46info@rcsdk12.org if you need the forms for your children sent home.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership with us. You are such an important part of the equation, and we thank you for always supporting your child and their teachers.
