Dear Nord Families,

I hope you all have had a great start to the new year! Here at Nord, we were able to fall back into our normal routines without missing a beat.

All students are wrapping up their Winter MAPs testing. Score reports will be emailed on Monday, February 3rd. As a friendly reminder, quarter 2 reports cards are now live on PowerSchool Parent Portal.

December Comet Impact Awards

Parent- Teacher Conferences

Walter G. Nord School's final Parent-Teacher Conference night is Thursday, February 6th from 3:35 to 8:35 pm. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher to sign up for a conference.

Specials teachers are also available for conferences. To set up a time with a specials teacher, please email them (see below) or call the main office.

Cell Phones and Smart Watches

At Walter G. Nord School, we require that students keep their cell phones silenced and in their locker during the school day. We also ask that smartwatches be kept in student lockers as they have become a distraction during class.

If any family member needs to get an emergency message to their child during the school day, please call the main office at 440-988-4441. Thank you for your support in limiting distractions to the educational environment.

5th Grade Puberty and Confidence Lesson

Beginning on February 5th , the fifth grade will be participating in an "Always Changing and Growing Up" lesson as part of the Always Puberty and Confidence Education Program. The lesson will take place during PE class. Mr. Johns will sending home more information on the curriculum in the upcoming weeks. Included in the information is the opt-out form if you do not want your child to participate. The form only needs to be returned if you want your child to opt-out.

For the lesson, boys will stay in the gym with Mr. Johns. Girls will report to a classroom and take the class with our school nurse, Mrs. Lowery, and school counselor, Mrs. Kremer. Any students who have opted out of the lesson will report to another classroom for a study hall with Nord staff.

Yearbook Pre-orders

Walter G. Nord School's 2024- 2025 Yearbook is now available for pre-order until Monday, March 10th for those of you that did not order a yearbook as part of your child's picture package. You can order by clicking here and entering the online ordering code: 1001193553.

The next Nord PTO meeting is on Monday, February 10th at 9:00 am at Nord School. If you would like the link to join virtually, please submit this form.

Dine-to-Donate

On the first Wednesday of each month, Nord PTO hosts a Dine-to-Donate fundraiser at a local restaurant. The next Dine-to-Donate fundraiser is on Wednesday, February 5th at Freddy's. Flyers will be sent home with students before the event.
