Annual Library Report
Sherrard CUSD #200: 2022-2023
A Note to Begin
We had a great year and started to really engage with some lessons and programming.
Highlights from the Library Staff
- Winola - Tracey Robbins implemented displays based on student and teacher requests. She also suggested we create a more comprehensive library staff handbook, which we have started to develop as a staff.
- Sherrard Elementary - Karen Millichamp got off to an amazing start as the new library aide. She implemented a lot of learning opportunities for students, and also started First Chapter Fridays.
- Matherville - Emily Bradshaw helped facilitate the video lessons that we used all year, and helped with the 6th grade project at the end of the year. Jill Bennin created lessons to use with 5th and 6th grade weekly, and should have a full curriculum by the end of next year.
- Junior/Senior High -Teresa Justice and Jill Bennin were able to start running some really good library programming, including March Madness voting for favorite book genres, and an April Poetry Month celebration.
- All buildings - Jill Bennin weeded sections in all of the libraries to make sure the collection is always working towards being current and useful for students and staff. We also began the library handbook with video support that we will work on all next year.
Circulation and Database Usage
Our library circulation numbers are up this year, and most of the databases saw increased usage as well. See the video below for additional information.
