WBSD half day April 26th
WBSD has added a half day to the school calendar for these purposes:
elementary teachers to meet with their new principals at their new building for transition activities
middle and high school teachers to receive important professional development including student wellness and safety training
Please plan for all students to have a half day April 26th.
Halfday dismissal times for students are:
WBHS - 10:40 a.m.
Oakland Early College - 11:14 a.m.
WBMS, Roosevelt, Transition Center - 11:22 a.m.
Doherty, Gretchko, Scotch, Sheiko - 12:12 p.m.

Laker of the Month - Nicole Lafata, West Bloomfield High School
West Bloomfield Board of Education proudly announces Nicole Lafata as the Laker of the Month, nominated by Dr. Stephanie Clark. As a Board, we share our utmost admiration for Mrs. Lafata's exceptional contributions as a special education teacher and department head.
Mrs. Lafata is known for her outstanding dedication, efficiency, and unwavering commitment to the Special Education Department at WBHS. Serving as an indispensable right hand to the administration, Mrs. Lafata adeptly manages the IEP calendar and progress monitoring schedule, ensuring timely support for our valued teachers.
In her capacity as the Department Head, Mrs. Lafata surpasses administrative duties, actively advocating for students and collaboratively tailoring IEPs to meet their unique needs. This proactive approach not only ensures the smooth functioning of the department but also significantly enhances the educational experience for our students. Mrs. Lafata's dedication extends to colleagues, serving as a reliable source of support and guidance. Always ready to lend a helping hand or provide valuable insight, her proactive communication and collaboration contribute to a cohesive and supportive atmosphere within the Special Education Department.
Mrs. Lafata's contributions extend to creating a positive environment for both students and colleagues at WBHS. Beyond her administrative responsibilities, she engages in advocacy to ensure that every student's individual needs are met for success.
One example of Mrs. Lafata's commitment comes to mind. Last semester, recognizing a student with significant learning challenges, she took proactive steps to provide the necessary support, showcasing her dedication to student well-being and success.
Mrs. Lafata's efforts to create a positive environment and advocate for students go above and beyond her regular duties. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Nicole Lafata as our well-deserved Laker of the Month, celebrating her outstanding service and unwavering commitment to the West Bloomfield School District!

West Bloomfield Preschool Academy
The first annual multicultural family night at ACS was a wonderful event and and it was so fun to learn about the many cultures that make up our program! Thank you to all of the staff and families for sharing and attending!
Did you know? There are over 60 languages represented in the West Bloomfield School District with the English Learners Department (ELD) serving approximately 400 students and their families.
Robots galore, designed and built by WBHS Robotics team! Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to 11 West Bloomfield High School students who earned Division I (superior) ratings at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival last weekend. These students worked extremely hard and their top ratings were well deserved. Well done, and Go Lakers!

Laker Opportunity Center is our New Alternative High School Program
Laker Opportunity Center offers an alternative learning experience for those that have struggled in the traditional learning environment and need credit recovery. Laker Opportunity Center offers students the opportunity to complete high school and graduate with a diploma. Our school leaders help select the right learning mode for each student. The program is open to all students in the State of Michigan who are 16-22 years old. Learn more on their facebook page or https://www.wbsd.org/lakeroppcenter.
In-Person Cohorts
Students may join an in-person cohort, meeting 2-3 times weekly. Monday & Thursday OR Tuesday & Friday are available, with a Wednesday rotation.
Drop-In
Qualifying students completing coursework from home may qualify for opt-in meet-ups only.
All Online
Qualifying students can learn entirely from home 24/7, communicating with school staff via email and video only. All students must make weekly contact with staff.

We’ll push and pull our way to successful flights in this fun interactive program. You will learn about the engineering process as we create a paper rocket and chart how far it flies.

Circuit Masters
