Good Sunday afternoon,

We hope everyone is having a Brilliant weekend! We are excited to see our Broncos tomorrow and continue our work as Brilliantly Inspired Leaders and Learners through our Bronco 5! We are so incredibly proud of our Broncos and all of the hard work they are putting in each day on campus and of our staff for their excellence in growing our students. We can't believe we have reached the month of May already and we will be continuing to encourage our Broncos to finish quarter four strong both academically and behaviorally.

This week we are celebrating our awesome Brill staff and showing them how much we appreciate all that they do to support our students and campus. Brill PTO and community partners are providing a wonderful lunch each day for our staff to enjoy. Cards and words of encouragement from our Broncos & families are also great ways to say thank you and are cherished by our staff! We also have a flyer below with some other great ideas to celebrate this week.

We will also have our Field Day this Friday! If you would like to attend as a guest, please complete the RSVP form below by this Tuesday, May 7th. If you didn't get an opportunity to order the field day shirts, don't worry, the grade level colors are listed below for your Bronco. The event times for each grade are provided as well.

Our Broncos have been learning some special things in Specials! From collaborative & problem solving games in PE, to Blue Dog inspired art work in Art, to learning to play the ukulele in Music, our Special classes and Broncos are shining bright! Broncos, great job exploring learning new and shoutout to our BRILLiant Specials Teachers!

A big shoutout to our Broncos of the Month for April! This year we will be celebrating a Bronco from each class every month that does a great job of displaying our Bronco 5 trait of the month. This past month we were focusing on Communication and how our Broncos can show Communication with self, other, and our campus. The class Bronco of the Month was voted on by their fellow classmates and we are so proud of these Broncos! Great job everyone!

Our Broncos did a great job of showing all that they have learned this year on their STAAR exams. Thank you to our whole campus for encouraging our students, helping us create a great learning environment, and supporting one another! Y'all are BRILLiant!

As cold, strep and flu season progresses, we are in that time of year when many students are coming down with upper respiratory symptoms. These include nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, and possibly fever.

Please be aware that Klein ISD requires that students be excluded from school for a fever of 100.0 or higher and they may not return to school until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Temporarily masking a fever with medication does not change the fact the student is in the contagious period of an illness and may be spreading the illness, like the flu, to others by coughing, sneezing, and touching surfaces.

While we value student attendance, it is important everyone plays their part in keeping the spread of illness to a minimum by following this rule. Please also make sure your contact information and emergency contacts are up to date with the Registrar so that you can be reached in the event your child is ill and must be picked up from school.

Did you know students take the MAP Growth assessment three times a year? This online test is used to measure what your student knows and how they are growing academically in Reading and Mathematics. Now that the middle of year testing window is complete, the MAP Growth Family Report can be found in your student’s Skyward Portfolio.

We are excited to share our new quarterly Family Curriculum Guides to help partner with our families. All quarter guides have been added for grades K-8 for core content in English and Spanish on the Klein ISD website. These documents include the following topics:

• How can I help my child learn at home?

Breakfast & Lunch Information:

All car riders and walkers will be allowed in the building beginning at 7:45 am to eat breakfast before reporting to their homeroom class. All bus riders will have the option of eating breakfast once they arrive on campus. Staff members will be located in the cafeteria each morning in order to help our students with trays, ID badges, and navigating the cafeteria line.

Thirty minute lunch periods will be scheduled by grade level beginning at 10:30 am through 1:45 pm. Staff members will be located in the cafeteria at every lunch in order to help our students with trays, ID badges, and navigating the cafeteria line.

Elementary Breakfast - $1.50

In order to be able to comfortably accommodate the large number of students eating lunch in the cafeteria at one time, it is necessary to assign days for parents to eat lunch with students at the tables in the front lobby.

Grade level assigned lunch days are listed below. Lunch visitors on days other than the assigned day will be permitted with prior permission from campus administration and will be limited to special circumstances such as birthdays, out of town visitors, etc.

ALL visitors must check in in the front office. Please bring ID to receive your temporary badge.

Last week we worked to get all student's their ID and transportation tags. Please note their are specific locations for these tags on your student's backpack and the tags need to stay in those locations, please. Bus riders will need to have their SMART tags when entering and exiting the bus, all car riders, bus riders, and walkers from Pre-K through 1st need a transportation tag, and teachers have ID tags for lunch time.

If you student has lost their tag or a replacement/additional one is needed, please contact Ms. Hall in the front office via email or by phone at rhall2@kleinisd.net or 832-484-6150.

• Visitors should ring the doorbell located at the front door of the school in order to notify the front office staff of your arrival.

• Visitors will be asked to present their IDs to the camera before entering the building.

• Once inside, visitors should report to the main office to check-in and receive their visitors badge. Visitors are asked to remain in the areas noted on their badge.

• Students will not be released to visitors during school hours without a photo ID, thank you for understanding and for helping us to keep our Broncos safe.

Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.

Any student who is absent for the whole day is required to produce one of the following within 5 days of their absence(s):

• Parent Note
• Message through Parent Skyward account
• Original medical note (copies or altered notes will not be accepted)
• Faxed notes must be sent from physician’s office
• Court note
• Official note for observance of approved religious holy days

Most funds raised are donated directly to Brill by the end of every school year. As such, your annual membership dues and donations are vital to providing the financial means to kickstart every academic year of PTO funded activities. Plus, your membership gives you a vote to help shape our yearly budgets and events.

3. Donations are always 100% tax deductible and membership is open to EVERYONE interested in supporting the school community! Just keep in mind, PTO membership is separate from the volunteer certification required to participate in on-campus events.
