The "Voice" of VPSS

Hard to imagine that we are only a week away from our first progress reports and the halfway point of the first nine weeks of the 24-25 School Year.

With that being said, I want to share with you a couple of changes that will be taking place with the district-wide newsletter. This newsletter will be moving to a monthly format that will come out the first weekend of the month. Now that I have asked all of our individual schools to create a newsletter for their stakeholders, I don't feel it is necessary to overkill the information that you may already be receiving. However, this newsletter will now feature a couple of features that will be regular parts of my information.

• Monthly update or video update from the Superintendent
• Monthly dates that pertain to specific district wide events or dates that affect all schools
• Monthly review of our school board meeting
• Monthly attendance awards

In addition, I will be sharing with you any other information that needs to be shared with all. Starting with our October issue, I will also be adding a survey for stakeholder input on a variety of topics.

With that being said, thank you to all who helped to get the school year started and have allowed us a little time to work through some of the regular issues we face every year.

Here's to a great September and to the beginning of our special "Friday Night Lights" that showcase so many of our students, fans, and communities.

Here is the summary of action for the Board Meetings held in August of 2024. Board meeting agendas and minutes can be found on the VPSS Website.

SUMMARY:

• Recognized our host familiies for our French Immersion Teachers
  
• Recognized New Administrators
• Recognized Coeyn Wise of Kaplan and Luke Wise of Erath for their recent elections at Louisiana Boys State. Coeyn was the Governor and Luke was the Lieutenant Govenor. A great accomplishment for Vermilion Parish.
• Recognized Amy Leblanc, teacher at EHS, for a national recognition with Ed. Rising.
• Adopted policy changes stemming from the 2024 Legislative Session.
• Opened Bids for AHS Gym Restroom addition and RRMS Old Gym repair
• Adopted the budget revision for 23-24 and accepted the 24-25 Proposed Budget. This budget can be found on the VPSS website. It is also linked to the button below.

As we begin the school year and head into September, we are now complete with the preseason for our fall sports and we begin the regular season in multiple sports. Our athletes in both high school and junior high prepare for competition after spending much time over the summer in the weight rooms, courts, and fields to prepare.

NOTES:

Please remind you students and your children that all athletic events are an extension of the school day and the school rules apply at all of these events. The only exception at events is the use of your cell phone, but inappropriate use is punishable by school policy.

Please remember to use good sportsmanship as a spectator and follow all entrance guidelines set up by the individual schools.
