Dear Henry Families,
I would like to thank all Henry families that have registered their students for the 25-26 academic school year in Parent Vue. This is extremely helpful information for planning purposes, as we prepare for the next academic year. We currently have student enrollment numbers to support two classrooms at each grade level and one classroom for grade six.
Henry students and teachers are hard at work in the 4th quarter of our school year. Grade level teams are getting ready and rehearsing for upcoming spring OMA concerts that will take place at Anna Henry in May. Additionally, mark your calendar for our TUSD OMA Showcase on Saturday, May 3, at 3:00 p.m. This is being held at Palo Verde High School, and the theme this year is What’s Your Superpower?
Primary students are completing DIBELS assessments in April to determine reading progress over the course of this school year. Intermediate students are taking the Arizona Academic Standards Assessments in Writing, Reading, and Mathematics. Fifth grade students also completed their Arizona Science Assessment in March. April Assessment dates are specific to a student’s grade level and will continue until the end of the month. All teachers have communicated these specific dates to families. Please call our front office if you have any questions. We greatly appreciate all families getting students to school on time for their respective testing days.
Our Character Strong trait this month is Courage. Courage for our Henry Gila Monsters means all students choose what is helpful, right, and kind- even when it’s hard or scary. Students are also putting in their effort to model our Anna Henry 4 B’s- Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Kind. Please be sure to ask your student about their learning on the topic of courage this month.
On a safety note, we are asking all families to be aware of the busy morning drop-off time when students are exiting vehicles, families are in the crosswalk areas, and students are entering campus. Please drive slowly in the school zone area, follow traffic laws, and be on the watch in our drive-through drop-off locations looking for all pedestrians. TUSD School Safety will continue to monitor our practices and address situations, as needed.
We are experiencing warmer outdoor temperatures in April. Please be sure that your student is bringing their water bottle from home to fill up in our three water bottle filling stations that have filtered water for anyone in our building. Additionally, check out our lost and found container in the cafeteria. We have a substantial number of very nice sweatshirts and jackets that belong to students.
Fourth quarter is an exciting time of the school year with many learning opportunities, performances, projects, and extracurricular activities. Our team is committed to ending the school year with safety and productivity in mind. Please continue to have conversations with all students that their number one job is… being a student, and the workplace… is school!
We appreciate your continued support!
Respectfully,
Thomas Heminger, principal
