Message from our Principal & Assistant Principal
Dear Pride Elementary School Families,
As November and the Thanksgiving season approach, we are reminded of the importance of expressing gratitude. We feel truly blessed to be part of the Pride Elementary family, working alongside dedicated teachers and supportive parents who go above and beyond to create the best possible experiences for our children.
Every morning, the warm greetings from our students bring a smile to our faces, and throughout the day, we witness respectful interactions and countless acts of kindness. We are grateful for these daily reminders of the special community we have here.
This month, we also want to take a moment to honor our Veterans, who selflessly put others before themselves to protect our freedom. Their sacrifices allow us the chance to live freely and pursue our dreams, and for this, we are deeply thankful.
We encourage you to take time as a family to reflect on the things for which you are grateful. These conversations help build a spirit of gratitude that enriches our lives and those around us.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Paulette English, Principal
Heather Moncrief, Assistant Principal

November/December Mindset Focus - WE ARE CONNECTED
The We Are Connected Mindset teaches us that everyone who comes into our lives can help us to achieve and live our dreams. Working with, for, and through others is crucial to realizing our dreams. When you understand this and constantly seek the positives from relationships with others, your performance in every area of your life improves. In the lessons for this mindset, we help students explore synergies with others, embrace diversity, and relish the competition that will allow them to maximize their potential by working with and through others.
Please click on the link below to find ways to encourage this mindset at home.

Join us for our 25th Annual GREAT AMERICAN TEACH-IN ON NOVEMBER 19TH
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11th at 3:00 p.m.
Parents, community members, and friends of Pride Elementary, it's not too late to be a part of our annual Great American Teach-In, on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024. We are looking for volunteers to teach one class or teach all day in this community-wide effort to give you a taste of teaching, in person or virtually. You do not need teaching experience, just enthusiasm and a desire to share with students something about your career, your experiences, your hobby, or yourself. We want you to carry some key messages into our classrooms, including the importance of staying in school and the value of each individual student. The Great American Teach-In is a perfect opportunity for parents, business leaders, and community members to let our students know we care about them. You won't regret your decision to be a volunteer teacher during The Great American Teach-In!

Every Day Matters!
Every day matters when it comes to attendance! There is a strong link between regular attendance and academic success. Research indicates that missing 10% of the school year, which is 2 days a month, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. Compared to students who are chronically absent, students who attend school regularly have greater success in all grade levels. Elementary school students who regularly attend class are 1.7 times more likely to achieve grade-level scores in English Language Arts and 2 times more likely to achieve grade-level scores in Math. Chronic absenteeism (10% or more of school days) leads to students struggling to read proficiently. Please note that absences for vacations and family visits are considered unexcused absences. Whenever possible, please try to schedule these activities for when school is not in session. Teachers are happy to provide students with suggestions for making up missed assignments but cannot replicate all of the learning that takes place in the classroom.
