Speed
One way to make sure your egg will survive the fall is to help slow it down to minimize the force of impact.
Absorption
There are many materials that can be used to help absorb the energy created by the fall to lessen the impact and save the egg.
The position of a strong egg.
When you crack and egg you are breaking it at its weakest point. Scientists suggest your egg be placed in your contraption in a vertical position to be its strongest.
Redundancy
The inclusion of extra components which are not strictly necessary to functioning, in case of failure in other components "BIG" ideas with your contraption.
