Los Pen NEUs
August 9, 2024
Dear Families,
Welcome to the ‘24-’25 school year! I am excited and grateful to be joining the Los Peñasquitos school community as your new principal. It has been a pleasure meeting with our outstanding staff and greeting some of our smiling students during ESS this summer. I can’t wait to see everyone soon!
I love the start of a new school year, and this year will be a great one. Here are some ways that you can help your family get ready for back-to-school:
Re-establish a routine. Get back into a sleep schedule that will ensure your child/children get enough nightly rest.
Encourage independence and routine. Make a checklist of things your child/children will do after school each day, such as homework, playtime, brushing their teeth, and having a bath. If your child/children are old enough, what household chores can they help with that will help them gain independence and confidence?
Talk about safety by reviewing outdoor safety rules - things like looking both ways before crossing the street and becoming familiar with crosswalk rules.
Limit screen time.
Discuss with your child/children any first-day jitters they may have.
See you on August 21st!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Weekes
A Message from our School Counselor
I hope everyone had a fun summer, filled with movies, sleeping in and hopefully a book or two read.
Learning something new can be challenging. Being a student does not just mean taking a test and doing homework. Being a student means you are learning to take notes, to ask questions, and learning new skills. Not everything in life will be easy. Some things are challenging, but with hard work and practice, skills become easier.
The new school year will be filled with new memories of field trips, spirit days like pajama day, or the fun memories of Friday Flags. As you enter the school year, what are you looking forward to?
For me, I am looking forward to greeting you in the mornings and seeing how much you all have grown. Hopefully, not everyone is taller than me… yet. I am excited to get to know our new students that have just joined our Los Pen family, our staff members, and our new principal Mrs. Weekes. Let’s all give them a big welcome to the Los Pen Family!-Ms. Bohn
