May Update

Welcome to the final newsletter of the 2023-2024 school year!

Teacher Appreciation Week is NEXT Week! We appreciate all your help in pulling this week together for our staff. We are excited to shower them with goodies and treats.

I have included details below about final exam schedules. After finals are completed, students will be turning in their school issued chromebooks. Please be sure your student has their chromebook in their case and also has their charger to turn in. You will be billed for any item not turned in.

Library books will also be collected this week. Remind your student to have those all back to the library on time to avoid any bills for lost books.

School yearbooks will be distributed the week of May 13th.

The only grade that has an awards program is 8th grade. Their awards will begin at 8:30 on Friday, May 24th. The 8th Grade Celebration will be held following the awards program.

Tuesday, May 21st - 4th and 6th Period Finals

Wednesday, May 22nd - 2nd and 5th Period Finals

Thursday, May 23rd - 1st and 3rd Period Finals

Friday, May 24th - Chromebook Collection

Tuesday May 21st- Social Studies/Health

Dear Parent/Guardian,

If your child or children currently receive FREE or REDUCED meals they will automatically be

eligible for the SUN Bucks program. What are the SUN Bucks? It is a new program to help

families buy healthy food for their school aged children during the summer. Families will get

$120 for each eligible child to buy groceries during the summer. Receiving SUN Bucks will not

affect children or families immigration status.

If you were not previously eligible for Free or reduced benefits, but you have had a change in

income or an increase in household size, you may fill out another application by emailing me at

bfrisbie@nhj.k12.in.us or you can visit the NHJ website under the Food Service Tab and print

an application and send it with your child. If you have never filled out a Free or Reduced

application, but you think you may qualify please don’t hesitate to fill out an application. Please

follow the steps on the application. May 1, 2024 is the deadline for applications to be eligible for

the 2024 SUN Bucks program.
