Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of June 15, 2025
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Dear EHTHS Families,
We are officially in the final stretch of the school year and it’s hard to believe how much has happened in just one week. The energy on campus has been incredible as we celebrate achievements, welcome new leaders, and prepare to say farewell to our Class of 2025!
With just two school days left before graduation, we want to ensure all families have the details they need. Due to next week’s predicted heat wave, graduation has been moved to 7:10 p.m. to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort. Students must arrive at the Swift-Slaybaugh Complex by 5:15 p.m. to be bussed to the high school. Please note that students may not be dropped off at the high school directly. Spectator busses will run from Miller and Alder schools, beginning at 5:15 p.m. and stadium gates open at 5:00 p.m. to allow spectators to enter. Click here for all important graduation details!
A huge congratulations to Osa and Marcus for their outstanding service as our Board of Education Student Representatives. We are so proud of you both and wish you the very best at Harvard and Yale! Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce that Juniors Carter Chew and Eva Nye have been selected as the 2025-2026 Student Board Representatives. We know they will represent EHTHS with pride and purpose!
Our AP Government students traveled to Washington, D.C. where they explored the National Archives, the White House, Capitol Hill, and even visited the iconic Senate Caucus Room. The trip was highlighted when they had an opportunity to meeting with Senator Andy Kim for an inspiring conversation about public service and civic leadership. Special thanks to Mr. Martirone for organizing this memorable trip and to Ms. Rice, Mr. Stetser, and Mr. Brown for chaperoning!
Mr. Walter’s World History students took a creative approach to exploring 20th-century issues by using Dr. Seuss books as allegories for themes like war, civil rights, and environmentalism. What a fantastic way to connect history to meaningful, engaging narratives.
Congratulations to Tessa Palumbo, Emma Lin, Paige Pacquing, and Aleah Hamid, who were recognized by Judge Bernard DeLury with the National Excellent Citizen Award from the Federal Judges Association. During their visit to the courthouse, students observed live court proceedings and met with both prosecutors and public defenders. Thank you to Ms. Jeanne Lange and Ms. Linda Ruff for making this valuable experience possible!
We have come to share extra special congratulations to share with you. Mr. Obed Perez was recognized with the Our Roots Teacher of the Year Award. The PACE HVAC and Electrical students were celebrated this week by Jon Crispin and Cooper University Hospital for their accomplishments. Finally, congratulations to Dr. Schreiner and our World Language Department on being designated a NJDOE World Language Model Program. This an incredible achievement that puts EHT on the map as a leader in global education!
On the athletic front, big congratulations to Kaci Velardi on her All-South Jersey selection. Good luck at the Carpenter Cup Tournament this week! Additionally, we’re thrilled to announce that Chase Brown was one of only two students in the nation to receive the prestigious Gold $4,000 Scholarship Award from the Scholastic Rowing Association of America. This is an amazing honor, and we are beyond proud!
We are thrilled to welcome back legendary coach Tony DeRosa to the EHT Football family! With three former head coaches on staff, each with championship experience, our football program is stronger than ever. Mini-camp is already underway and the future looks bright. It’s a great time to be an Eagle!

Thank you for your continued support and partnership during this year. Whether we’re celebrating student excellence, preparing for graduation, or building programs that shine on the state and national stage, there’s never a dull moment at EHTHS. I’m incredibly proud to be part of this amazing school community.
Wishing you a safe and relaxing summer!

#DAY 1
The High School will be continuing with this bullying-prevention program for the 2024-25 school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion, outline expectations for behavior toward each other and the responsibility to intervene, report and to reach out for help if individuals observe bullying behavior.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams.
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly.
This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring--this notion is called being an Upstander--an #EHTUPSTANDER. Hit the play button below and see for yourself! 🤩
Has YOUR student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
🌟 THE FRESHMEN CURRENTLY HAVE THE MOST #EHTUPSTANDER PLEDGES!🌟
🌟 WHEN EAGLES SOAR WE ALL ACHIEVE!! 🌟
