Bluff Point State Park
Woods, tidepools, and water views in Groton, CT
How long is the walk?
There are several trail options. We took the 3.6 mile loop HERE.
Some notes from my family's experience:
This is such a fun trail! The trail is a big circle. We went left first, which takes you through the woods for the first part of the trail. When we reached the far end of the loop we left the trail and explored and walked along the rocky shoreline for much of the next stretch. There are massive boulders to climb, rocks to hop along, giant driftwood logs to balance on, and small pebbles to stack and look for treasures.
This can easily be a multi-hour outing. Bring snacks and water. Shoes that can get wet are useful for coastline exploring.
If you want a shorter walk you can start with the right side of the loop from the parking lot. This will take you out to the coastline views first. Wander as far as you have energy for and then turn back!
Bluff Point can get VERY busy, so going on a weekday or early in the day is best. The only bathrooms are porta-potties at the parking lot.
