ISAT Testing
The ISAT (Idaho Standards Achievement Test) is approaching for students in Idaho public schools from grades 3 to 8 and grade 11. It assesses students on grade-level content standards in mathematics, English/Language Arts, and science. The summative ISAT is conducted from March to May each school year. For Emmett Middle School, the testing schedule is as follows: English Language Arts (6-8 grades) on April 23rd, Science (8th grade only) on April 30th, and Math (6-8 grades) on May 7th. ISAT scores are crucial for educators, counselors, and administrators to identify learning gaps and make decisions about students' academic paths. Teachers use the data to pinpoint areas for improvement and tailor instruction to meet students' needs effectively.
Your studentโs WIN teachers have been having discussions about their ISAT scores and helping students to set growth goals for the upcoming ISAT tests. This year, any student who shows growth on Math and ELA ISAT tests will be exempt from their end of year final.
Registration
It's hard to believe we're already in the 4th quarter of the 2023-2024 school year! Even more surprising is that we're already gearing up for the 2024-2025 school year course registration. All students will be automatically enrolled in required classes like English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, students will have the chance to choose elective classes starting the first week of April. If you're curious about the classes available at EMS, take a look at our new course handbook which includes all course requirements for each grade level.
