We are thrilled that students see the value in CTE and we're excited to continue to grow!
SWWC STUDENTS AT WORK!
Awesome Opportunity For The Advanced Photography Students!
The SWWC Advanced Photography class participated in the Washtenaw Community College photography immersion program. Students had the opportunity to learn the nuances of lighting, understand good composition, and learn how to create compelling portraits that resonate with emotion. Then, they imported images into Adobe Lightroom, where they learned basic editing and had a chance to print their images.
Training That Could Save Lives!
The SWWC Health Science students attended the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) training. The BLS course is designed to teach individuals the necessary skills to respond to emergencies involving cardiac arrest, choking, and other life-threatening medical situations. All students are not certified in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED (Automated External Defibrillator) usage, and basic first aid. Congratulations!
Look Where They Are Now!
Two recent SWWC graduates, Rex Schreck (Saline) and Nate Hardy (Saline), are paving the way as the next generation of manufacturing. These two are enrolled in the Zoller Apprenticeship Program, earning a degree at Washtenaw Community College and working towards a career with Zoller.
What is the SWWC?
The South & West Washtenaw Consortium (SWWC) provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities to 11th and 12th grade students enrolled in the Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Manchester, Milan, and Saline school districts. Approximately 1000 students participate in our state-approved CTE programs as they continue to plan and prepare for college and career.
On behalf of the thirty-eight SWWC staff members, we welcome you to the 24/25 school year! Thank you for enrolling in one of our twenty-three Career and Technical Education classes offered at Chelsea, Dexter, and Saline High School, as well as our off-site locations specifically for Cosmetology and Building Trades. We are excited to have you in the consortium!
If you have any questions, please contact Kara Stemmer, the Director of the SWWC at 734.401.4371 or via email at stemmkar@salineschools.org.
SWWC Class Grades
As a reminder, all SWWC students will need to check their SWWC grade using Saline’s PowerSchool. This means students need to log into Saline’s PowerSchool using their Saline-provided username and password. This confidential information is provided to students by their SWWC teacher.
- Parents/Guardians will need to establish an account to have access to the SWWC grade. Here are the directions to do that.
