A Note from Preschool Director, Mrs. Hafner
It was another great week in preschool. The children are really settling into the routine of each classroom. The teachers have enjoyed building a special bond with all the children while learning about each of their personalities. Thank you again for allowing us to be part of their educational journey.
Reminder that our morning drop-off beginning on Tuesday, September 3rd will be drop and go. Please check in with your child’s teacher by the preschool playground doors and then your child will walk into the school to their classroom by themselves. I will be in the school hallway making sure all children are getting to their right classrooms. During this time if you need to speak with me, please ask either Mrs. Olson or Mrs. Eframo to come and get me.
Ms. Amy and Lucky will now remain in the classrooms to welcome your child and get them settled in for their teachers to return from check in. The preschool door will promptly close at 8:20, so we can begin our day. If you come after that time, please go to the front office and wait for a preschool or front office staff member to check your preschooler in.

Staff Highlight
Ms. Mika Hurd
Many of you may have noticed more new faces this year. Ms. Hurd has been a great help during morning drop off, especially the first week of school. We are very lucky to have a staff member who will step in and help when we need it.
In the Classrooms
Our Pre-K classrooms have been buzzing with excitement and learning as all of our students settle into their new routines! This week, we kicked off our first CKLA unit, "All About Me," where the children have been exploring the letter Aa, perfecting their letter formation, practicing Zoo-Phonics to master the sound, and working on recognizing and spelling our names.
Socially, our young learners have been busy making new friends and learning how to make positive choices in their interactions with friends and during group time learning. The rooms have been a burst of color and creativity as we learned about primary colors in our science lesson. Our scientists had a blast experimenting with paint, discovering how primary colors blend to create new ones.
Our Preschool 3’s have been embracing their school routine with enthusiasm and curiosity! This week, we've focused on helping them understand the expectations we have in our classroom, all while celebrating what makes each child unique and special.
During center time, your children have been engaged in a variety of activities that encourage creativity and cooperative play—key aspects of learning how to interact kindly with others. This week’s unit centered around playing nicely with friends and discovering how small acts of kindness can fill someone’s bucket with joy.
In the sensory tub, the children had a blast with colored rice, exploring letters and numbers as they sorted them in a playful Chicka Chicka Boom Boom-inspired activity. The art and kitchen centers were also buzzing with excitement as our little ones expressed themselves through imaginative play.
Library Lane
Basil, our Honorary Librarian
Basil is our beloved honorary librarian. She comes to school almost everyday and helps the students during reading time. She started coming this week and all the students can't get enough of this fluffy fixture in our library.
We are so lucky to have Basil at our school.
How to find Teacher Pages
Our Preschool Website can be found here.
It has wonderful information for parents and students. You can find lots of information on what your student is doing in class, what the upcoming week looks like and so much more.
We are actively updating the website so you have access to more information. So, visit often as we are continually updating the webpages each day.
BFA 13 Virtues
September's Virtues are...
Silence – There is a time and place to speak up and a time to listen. You learn more by listening than speaking.
Justice – Be respectful. Give everyone a chance to work or play. Give others a chance to express themselves. Share. Remember that others are counting on you, so live up to your duty.
BFA's Guiding Principles
Mission:
Our mission is to create young adults with character like America's founding Renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin: well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged.
Vision:
Our students will excel academically through a challenging, sequenced curriculum that emphasizes math, science, the arts, and literacy. We will be a data-driven institution, focusing on individual students. Our students, teachers, parents, staff, and leaders will be held accountable for the success of our school. Finally, we recognize that an education is incomplete without fostering social emotional development, character, sports, and nature.
13 Virtues:
Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Purity and Humility.
