LMHS NEWSLETTER
March 2025
From The Principal's Desk
As we head into the final weeks of the third quarter, please feel free to contact teachers if you have any questions/concerns or to increase your awareness of what is taking place in the classroom.
We are heading into a busy time of the year with spring sports, Spring Play, Prom, concerts, and testing. In saying that, please check the high school webpage, Facebook, and/or Twitter for upcoming activities and announcements.
A reminder that on Tuesday, March 11 we will be doing something a little different here at LMHS that we are calling "Class Event Day". More information about this day and what each grade level will be doing is included in this newsletter.
Reminder that Parent/Teacher Conferences are on Thursday, April 3 and Thursday, April 10 from 4-8 PM. These again will be either in-person or online conferences and a sign-up email will be sent out in a few weeks. Please consider signing up to talk with your child's teachers.
As always, it's a GREAT day to be an L-CAT!

March 11 - LMHS Class Event Day Details
On Tuesday, March 11, which is the Statewide ACT Test Date, we will be doing things a little different for the day at LMHS. We are calling it our Class Event Day.
On this day, all students should still report to school for a 7:50 AM start and follow the plan below:
9th Grade - will go on two Technical College Tours - the Fort Atkinson and Watertown Campuses. Students will be split into two groups, with one group starting at the Watertown Campus in the morning and the other starting at the Fort Atkinson Campus. Students will then switch to the other campus for the afternoon. A bag lunch will be provided. No money is needed for this trip.
10th Grade - will be touring Madison College and UW-Whitewater. Students will be split into two groups, with one group starting at Madison College in the morning and the other starting at UW-Whitewater. Students will then switch to the other college for the afternoon. Lunch will be provided at UW-Whitewater. No money is needed for this trip.
11th Grade - will do the State-Wide ACT Plus Writing Test here at LMHS. The test will last until approximately 12:30 PM. They will test with their advisory teacher, unless told otherwise. Juniors can leave for the day once testing is finished. Snacks will be provided during a morning break and a bag lunch will be available after testing using the student's food service account.
12th Grade - this will be a Portfolio Work Day/Turn In Day. All seniors are expected to be at LMHS to work on their portfolio in their advisory room. Portfolios are due on this day as well. As soon as they turn in their portfolio, they are able to leave LMHS. No breakfast will be served. A bag lunch will be available from 12:30-1 PM using the student's food service account.
Early College Credit and Start College Now Deadlines
Early College Credit Program
Wisconsin's Early College Credit Program (ECCP) allows students in grades 9-12 to take post-secondary courses at a UW System school or a state participating private non-profit institutions of high education
Start College Now Program
Wisconsin's Start College Now Program allows students in Grades 11 & 12 to take post-secondary courses at a technical college.
For both of these programs, the school district pays for tuition and fees unless a comparable course is available in the district. The student is responsible for transportation. The school board must approve these course selections in advance. Applications for the 2025 fall semester are due March 1, 2025 and applications for Spring 2026 are due October 1, 2025.
For more information on either one of these programs, please contact School Counselors Mr. Harty (for students last names A-K) or Ms. Dickhut (for students last names L-Z).
Senior Portfolio Information
Completed senior portfolios are due by Tuesday, March 11. This is a firm date for turning in portfolios.
A mixture of school district staff and community members will evaluate the portfolios and then on Friday, April 11 will meet with the students in what we call our Portfolio Exit Interviews.
This is a graduation requirement for all LMHS seniors and is a great culmination of their school years.
