A Note from Your Principals
We are so proud of this year's 2024 Superintendent's Award winner, Amelia Ottey. She was recognized on Tuesday evening by Dr. Carter, Board of Ed members, other honorees and their families.
During Tuesday's ceremony, Ms. Swahn, Amelia's teacher shared some remarks that capture what makes Amelia the perfect recipient. Here are just a few highlights:
- You don’t need to spend very much time with Amelia to notice her gentle yet impactful leadership skills, truly kind way of moving through the world, and her genuine loving nature.
- She has the ability to make people feel at ease, and listens like there is no one else in the room.
- She has the most calm and understanding way of working with others. Students have told me that she helps them stay focused and on task, they are able to do their best work when they are paired with her, and that she never makes them feel like they aren’t capable of something.
- Her kindness, patience, and yearning to understand others absolutely shines.
- Amelia stays true to herself regardless of the choices of those around her.
- While Amelia truly is a lifelong learner who goes above and beyond with just about every task she tackles, she still has a ton of fun. She is extremely creative - whether it's creating on Canva, making bracelets, writing a masterpiece inspired by the toy frogs given by the PTO for Leap Day, or something as simple as telling the stories of her dog, Finn, who enjoys devouring the occasional sock and book, she allows herself to truly enjoy life.
Mr. Kenyon and I are so proud of Amelia and are inspired by her and the other 2024 winners. Based on all the remarks shared, it is clear that our future is so bright, we're all going to need shades! :0)

Shout outs are a great way to express gratitude towards those who have made a positive impact in our lives. Whether it's a staff member, friend, student, or colleague, taking a moment to acknowledge and appreciate their contributions can strengthen relationships and bring our ET community closer together.
So, if you're feeling thankful for someone in your or your child's life, don't hesitate to give them a shout out! Go ahead, spread some love and appreciation to those who matter most to you.

This year, Mrs. Conyer's 4th grade class, participated in Discover Dairy a program designed to teach kids about dairy farms, how farmers take care of their cows and lands, and how this local industry contributes to the greater community. On Tuesday, the class had an opportunity to take a field trip to Maple Leaf Farm, a working dairy farm, in Hebron, CT. They toured the farm and most importantly met Zowie, their "adopted" calf who they learned about throughout the year!
