Weather Updates

Now that the weather has begun to change, we would like to inform you of our outdoor recess policies. We will continue to go outdoors as long as the "feels like/wind chill" temperature is above 12 degrees. Students are outside for 15 minutes. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, including gloves and hats. If you would like to review the district guidlines, they can be found here:

Weekly Information

Our Read-A-Thon begins today! All information went home last week. The class that has the most minutes read at the end of the month will earn a pizza party!

On Monday, January 13th we will be hosting an informational IREAD meeting for parents with children in 2nd Grade. Please join us in Mrs. Conrad's room from 4:45-5:15.

All Pro Dad will be meeting this week on Tuesday, January 14th at 3:30. Please join us.

Miss Irvine's Bell Ringers are meeting on Tuesday, January 14th until 4:30. An activity bus is available. Your child must be signed up already in order to stay. Any questions, please reach out to Miss Irvine at b.irvine@mcas.k12.in.us

Attendance Notifications

MCAS has a new way to report absences for your child. If you are unable to call the building, please feel free to login to your PowerSchool Account, Click on "Forms", scroll down to the bottom and click on "Attendance Monitor". You will then see a button where it says "Report New Attendance" and then proceed filling out the information.

Important Everyday Reminders

Reminders:

**If you have a new phone number or address, please make sure to let our office know as soon as possible. It is imperative that we are able to reach you in case of any emergency. Thank you so much!

**Drop off/Pickup If you are dropping your child off late, or picking them up early, please make sure you are not parking in the fire lane at the front of the building. This area is reserved for busses, and for emergency vehicles. Thank you!

**If you are changing your child's dismissal plan, please make sure all phone calls and messages are made prior to 2:00. It is very hard to ensure messages are getting received after 2:00.

**If you are dropping your child off in the morning, please know that our doors do not open until 8:25. All parent drop-offs must be done at Door B. Our front entrance is reserved for busses.

***Volunteers/Pop-Ins: We love having volunteers! Please make sure if you would like to volunteer, a background check must be on file. The form can be found here. Also, if you would like to "pop-in" on your student, the teacher must have a 24-hour notice. Thank you!

Sports Information

Boys Basketball Practice begins this week on Tuesday, January 14th. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will last until 4:30. Please make sure you are on time for pickup! An activity bus is available as long as your child is signed up for it. If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Fi Orlando at filipe.orlando@mcas.k12.in.us

Notes from the Nurse

Reminder: if your student was sent home a form that they did not pass the vision screening, please make sure you notify the nurse of the appointment date. We need to make sure our students with vision issues get the glasses they need to be successful. Please contact the nurse if you have any questions or need help finding a Dr to see your child.
