APPLE PICKING
Ten years ago 7th and 8th grade students planted an orchard of apple and pear trees next to the community garden and outdoor basketball court. Their goal was to create an on-site orchard to provide future students with fruit for various food projects. That time is now.
Team Triumph currently manages the orchard and last Friday the 4th, 5th and 6th grade classroom groups took time to harvest some apples. Those apples will be made into applesauce in the teaching kitchen sometime this week. Check out this link to 16 pictures from their harvesting experience.
USA OLYMPICS
Team USA likes to help students get to know each other better at the beginning of the school year by putting them through a series of "Olympic Challenges". This year, the learning community was split into four groups that completed timed or measured tasks. Each team's results were compared to the others for some good-natured competition.
STATION A.
Students used a giant multi-colored parachute to toss a rubber chicken into the air and away from the group. The goal was to throw the chicken for maximum distance away from the parachute. Mr. Salit made the measurements.
STATION B.
Students stacked and unstacked red plastic cups for maximum height and speed. Two or three students at a time took on the challenge while the rest of the group waited for their turn to be measured for height and time.
STATION C.
Students folded paper airplanes and threw them for maximum distance.
STATION D.
Students took rapid turns trying to land frisbee disks into a container. The number of successful touches or tosses were tallied for a given period of time.
STATION E.
Students passed a hula hoop down and back a line in a relay fashion for time. This took maximum group coordination and speed.
ADVENTURERS PRE-K OFF TO RECESS
The students gathered in the lobby to head out to the little playground before it got brutally hot on Tuesday, September 5th.
3RD GRADE TRAVELERS & 4TH GRADE VOYAGERS P.E.
The students were engaged in a pattern game when this picture was taken. The person in the middle had to figure out what was going on.

FAMILY ASSISTANCE WITH ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
Dear Families, Here is how you can help us at the beginning and end of each school day.
For the morning:
- Please pull up as far as you can and not stop before the crosswalk.
Please do not try to have a conversation with your student's teacher. They are there to gather or disperse the students as rapidly as possible.
Please make the drop off/pick up process move rapidly by staying with your car, and if possible not getting out of your car.
If you are getting out of your car for any reason please park in the family parking and walk your students across.
In the afternoon:
Please know your student's grade level
We will continue to break up the lines based on grade level as we figure out how many vehicles each section needs, so please be patient.
