Westfield Principal Kristen Ulery
Westfield families:
Thank you for a wonderful first year! It has been great getting to know the wonderful students and families and working with such a dedicated group of teachers. All of your support is greatly appreciated.
I want to wish all of our fifth graders my best as they transition to middle school next year. They are a great group of kids, and I have enjoyed getting to know them this year. They will be missed!
This will be the last weekly newsletter of the school year. I will send summer updates with information as the new school year approaches in August.
I hope you have a wonderful summer!
Kristen Ulery
Westfield Principal
Summer Reading Program
Reading over the summer is a good way to continue learning and be ready for school in August. All students are encouraged to participate in Westfield's summer reading program.
This flier contains information about the summer reading program. You can view and print the log forms here.
Grow Your Own Food Program
Ms. McCormick's fourth grade class was part of a partnership with College of DuPage and the DuPage County Farm Bureau to learn about food production and gardening. The lessons culminated with planting their own tomato plants, which they will nurture over the summer in hopes of being able to eat their own, homegrown cherry tomatoes. Check out this video from COD for more information about our planting adventure.
Orchestra Registration
All 3rd grade students are invited to register for Orchestra (violin, viola, cello, or bass). District 89 Orchestra teachers, Ms. Kline and Mr. Ladendorf, visited 3rd grade classrooms last week to show this video about the orchestra program and demonstrated all of the instruments. If your child is interested in participating, there are two steps: fill out this google form (https://forms.gle/ftGwZazyJd3MF8VYA) and then save the date to attend the Orchestra Registration and Try Out event on Saturday, September 7 at Glen Crest Middle School. If you have any questions, reach out to the orchestra teachers kkline@ccsd89.org and aladendorf@ccsd89.org
