We are proud to announce that Rosa Varela member of our Governing Board has received the Master's in Boardsmanship award during the Yuma County Meeting held on Thursday, September 26, 2024. This award was given in recognition of providing and engaging the community as an advocate for public school education, and for providing responsible district governance. To qualify for this distinctive achievement, Mrs. Varela participated in at least 84 hours of professional development training.

21st Century Program!🙌🏼⭐
Arizona Desert Elementary, Ed. Pastor Elementary and Rio Colorado Elementary were awarded
funds from ADE to enhance their work with their summer programming, through the ‘Best Summer
Ever’ model. The purpose of this model is to build internal capacity to strengthen and improve
21st CCLC summer learning programs that will positively impact the landscape of summer learning
in Arizona and nationally.
We are excited to announce that Ed. Pastor Elementary has been selected to present at the
upcoming National Summer Learning Association Conference in Washington, DC, next month, that
is centered around professional development for Summer Programs:
Summary of their Presentation:
During our presentation, we will be sharing the creative ways Ed Pastor Elementary School implemented Camp-based enrichment activities that align with our local assets and project-based learning. We will have the opportunity to describe the use of our local partnerships with SLPD, SLFD, Medic First, and the Health Department to capture the context of our community and student populations. Finally, we will be able to showcase how professional development, planning, and clear expectations helped leverage student achievement, parent involvement, and staff participation.
