Spring Term 1, Week 6
A word from Mr Broom
The final week of this half term has been a blast, and you can tell that after a full block of learning, the children are ready for a well-earned break. Of course, Learning Journeys are now at the halfway point and following a 'reignition' event when we return after the holidays, they'll be picked back up for the remainder of the Spring Term. You can see what your child will be learning on our website, so do take a look.
Meanwhile, I'm delighted to announce that we are proceeding with our plans to open our Nursery up to full time places from September 2025. We will also be offering wrap-around care too with a range of sessions available from 0745 through to 1615 daily. Over half term, our team will be working on the finer details and i'll update you all in the first week back. Please tell your friends and family about this exciting news!
Finally, our platform for booking Family Consultations is now live so please book your slot with your child's class teacher.
Have a super half term everyone.

Do you want to help our school take climate action and become more sustainable?
As part of the Department for Education funded Climate Ambassadors programme you can volunteer with our school to help develop and deliver our Climate Action Plan. The programme asks for a minimum of 1 day volunteering time spread over at least 3 activities and that you are DBS eligible. You will receive a free DBS check and training in safeguarding and climate action planning (2 hours online). If you are passionate about turning climate ambition into climate action in your local school community, please contact the programme regional hub by either emailing climateambassadors_yh@leeds.ac.uk or completing this expression of interest form.
Bike Safety
We have noticed a small number of children coming to school on their bikes without helmets. It is school policy that children may only ride to school if they are wearing a helmet. Many thanks
Online Safety
A reminder of online safety as we go into the holidays. We have had notification from the police of a near miss of grooming on Tik Tok of a pupil in the locality. Please ensure children are using age appropriate sites and that online activity is supervised and monitored. Many thanks
Gala Attendants
Congratulations to Norah Smith and Chase Carling who were randomly picked to be our Gala Attendants for this years gala. The gala is being held on Saturday 17th May.
Staff Shoutouts
Staff shoutouts are back for 24-25 and there's no better way of helping to keep our staff morale high than letting them know how you think.
Happy Staff + Happy Children = Happy Family.
If you can spare a minute or two to let someone know how great they are, it would be much appreciated, especially at this challenging time for us all. Thank you.

Regular Items - Now Echo Regulars
Following feedback from our parent governors, we've updated the way that the weekly Hungate Echo works so that it is sharper with information you need. A new newsletter, known as the Echo Regulars will contain all the most important regular information that our families may need. It has a permanent home on our website at the link below. Here you will find community events, regular reminders and key information. When I update it, I'll put a short line at the bottom of the Hungate Echo to let you know.
