There are so many ways to help your child at home even if you are not fluent in the target language they are learning. Here are some tips for doing so:

• ask what they learned in class
• review their vocabulary or class notes with them for 5-10 minutes daily.
• listen to music in the target language.
• watch Television or movies in the target language.
• speak the target language if possible at home.
• flashcards with vocabulary
• label items in the house in the target language.
• use free digital platforms like Duolingo for 5 minutes a day.

Students in Spanish 1:

- Talk about classes and school life.

- Discuss everyday activities

- Ask questions in Spanish

- Describe the location of people and things

- Use all the vocabulary learned in Lesson 1

(Miguez)Students will be introduced to the following:

Fruits and vegetables native to the Americas

. Spanish chef Ferran Adria

. preterite of stem-changing verbs

. double object pronouns

. Superlatives

. Read about traditional soups in the cuisines of Spanish Speaking countries.

Projects

Spanish food truck project. This project will allow students to practice their written Spanish by creating a food truck menu in Spanish.

Food in Spanish Speaking Country Field Trip. Students will explore food and culture around the world! They will read, see pictures and watch short videos of Spanish Speaking Countries

(Morales)-

My amazing students in Spanish 2 are learning about food:

- How to order food in a restaurant

- Talk about and describe the food

- Reviewing all vocabulary learned from Spanish 1 and lesson 1 in Spanish 2.

Students will be introduced to the following:

. City transportation.

. Nosotros/Nosotras commands.

. Past participles used as adjectives.

. Read about the use of voseo in Latin America.

Project

Students will present Cultural, geographic, and historical information about Venezuela.

French 1(6th)-currently offered online via OCVS/FLVS.

French 2 (7th)- currently offered online via OCVS/FLVS.

French 3 (8th)-currently offered online via OCVS/FLVS.

sexto grado(6)- students are working on word classification and how to use this for proper writing and reading.

séptimo grado(7)- Students are working on the better understanding of correct orthography. This will allow them to improve their writing skills.

octavo grado AP(8)-Students are working on the AP frame work theme Familias y comunidades. Students will continue to work with reading comprehension activities that fall in this curriculum theme while integrating writing and orla activities.

Ciencias Biológicas (6to)-At the beginning of the month we will be talking about the ecological relationships between organisms. We will also talk about the food webs that exist in an ecosystem. Then we will talk about the cell; the types, their importance and their function.

Ciencias terrestres (7mo)-Will be working with

• Unit 2.1 Earth Layers test will be Thursday, November 15.
• Unit 2.2 Processes of Earth begins Friday, November 16.

Ciencias Físicas (8vo)-Will be working with

• Unit 2.1 Waves test will be Friday, November 16.
• Unit 2.2 Thermodynamics begins Monday, November 18

ASL 1-In November we, Lightning Signers, will learn more about describing/identifying one selves by describing its appearance and clothing. The week before the Thanksgiving break, we will do several fun Thanksgiving activities in class and on Veterans Day we will do several fun activities as well.
