Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 6th June 2025
This week, we have been focusing on Speaking Out and Staying Safe in partnership with the NSPCC. Children from Reception to Year 6 watched a virtual assembly which prompted great discussions in classes about how pupils can access support in school and out of school if something makes them uncomfortable or if they need someone to talk to. NSPCC volunteers then visited school on Tuesday to deliver workshops to Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6. All children who took part in the workshops will have brought home a Buddy Kit to remind them of the key messages that were discussed. The children engaged really well with the workshops and we will continue to reinforce in school that children really can Speak Out to Stay Safe.
The NSPCC have shared some important information below for parents and carers on wider NSPCC resources and support to help keep children safe.

Stars of the Week
Congratulations to this week's stars:
Nursery - Wyatt for working hard with his pencil control and mark making.
Reception - Olivia W for having a fantastic start to the half term, trying hard with her phonics and reading and embracing all our challenges with a positive attitude.
Year 1 - Stella for putting 100% effort into all areas of her learning! She is flourishing!
Year 2 - Jackson for his determination in maths this week. He has been tackling our time topic with a smile on his face! He's been contributing to class discussions, doing super partner work and has been explaining the reasoning behind his answers using key vocabulary.
Year 3 - Taylor for a brilliant effort with writing his own myth. He used descriptive vocabulary to really entertain the reader.
Year 4 - Stanley for wonderful effort in our writing topic and for checking his work for missing punctuation.
Year 5 - Charlotte for trying extremely hard in reading, putting much effort into improving.
Year 6 - Sophie for her fantastic writing in English. The vocabulary, sentence structures and grammar chosen adds depth and atmosphere to her narratives.
Well done to our latest Reading Monster and Reading Stars!
This week, Dylan achieved his Reading Monster brag tag – great work Dylan!
And we had three children reach their Reading Stars, so well done to Lottie, Glenda and Elliott.
